Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Should SM re-evaluate M.e?

As Teradata’s CMO, M.e. doesn't talk to customers, doesn't know how our customers use our products, doesn't know what products we offer, doesn't understand the technology, ... and he's been here over 3 years and doesn't want any of the above. He just waves his hands and says things like "cloud-first!".

Really, is that a CMO?

What are your thoughts?

@9ifk+19LW4ZNa, It's not just marketing. CSS is in the same position. The good ones are gone and the only ones left are the skanks who will do "anything" to retain their power. The favors typically done at SKO had to be done locally this year.

Marketing is full of dead weight. They laid off good people and kept high-paid butt-kissing directors. They also kept contractors instead of those long-term employees and pay them six figures. I guess contractors don’t show up on the employee expense rolls. It’s going to take awhile but I don’t see much good in store for Teradata.

@9ktz+19LW4ZNa don't forget EW in that bunch. He is a relic too.

@8eln+19LW4ZNa - I can't believe M.e.'s making "inbound marketing" sound like it's a new thing for TD. They tried personalization years ago and failed because no one could get the ELT to sign on to it. Even the Marketing employees he laid off recently tried to bring back personalization in 2020, and M.e./CT shut it down. Once again M.e and CT are trying to make 'old things' into 'new things' to make themselves look smarter than they are.

CT and ME should be outbound. They are analog timepieces stuck in a digital world. We need cutting edge marketing from current practictioners of the art, not ones still stuck in 90's marketing books.

Td is a sinking ship. Clients are leaving, every sale is a bar fight, ELT are clowns... and the biggest clients are out in 2-3 years. Sell now, exit now. More layoffs coming, CSS is next, will be live in April.

ME just announced marketing strategy of inbound marketing. Seriously? No outbound marketing and demand gen? It feels to me that Teradata and Teradata Marketing is a sinking ship.

SM ain't listening...that mouth breather is still trying to figure out how to pronounce Yahoo correctly. Or sending out emails on Women's day celebrating women but championing a genderless world. White male congrats women by effectively asking for women's day to be cancelled because it calls for a gender. Who HIRED THIS ONE?

  1. e banned mention of Snowflake AFTER telling employees to blab about Snowflake all over social media for almost a year. What did that do? GIVE SNOWFLAKE MORE ATTENTION.

Genius, I tell you; marketing GENIUS.

Don't forget how M.e. buried his head in the sand with the Snowflake threat; his reaction was to not allow anyone to say "snowflake". He hid from the problem rather than face it. That's not the marketing leader Teradata needs.

SM - if you're listening... do something!!

He wrote The Manifesto and assigned it as homework to everyone in the company. He taught us how to cover 147 ppt slides in 9 minutes....”next slide”. He added an orange dot to the end of the company name. See....there’s three needle moving things he’s done for the TerD that aren’t laM.e at all.

What has M.e accomplished in his time at Teradata? Lots of talking, even more money spent on marketing agencies and campaigns that don't deliver.

Actually, ALL of marketing can go and it won’t be noticed.

YES! Add CT to that list too, he as well lacks the technical knowledge that's required to oversee Digital Marketing. They both need to be ousted and replaced with more Tech Savvy ELT who actually care about SEO and every other business practice that's related to this century.
