Wrong store locater site.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but any theories as to why the store locater site is so wrong? At this point, that website has to be a meme, or something. It doesnt just have a few mistakes. It is laughably inaccurate. I'm not as familiar with the Sears side, but I'm sure that one is full of errors too. But look at the Kmart site:

They have 5 stores listed in NY state, https://www.kmart.com/stores/new-york.html

All except Bridgehampton are closed, and many of those have been closed for Years. Who exactly does he think he's fooling? The jig is up, Edward. Those list guys, (Jack, Ron, or whoever they are), have been posting the accurate store counts for Years. There are various media articles, plus also freaking Wikipedia, which clearly show that there are 9 Kmarts left (of which 3 are in the US mainland). Why does his foolish website show about 22 locations?

Does he think people believe that there are that many Kmarts left? I mean, anyone can just call the phone numbers listed and see that they are disconnected. Or someone could simply drive by and see the closed stores. So who is he hiding from? The secret is out, Lampy. You've been exposed. Thanks to these list people, we have Known exactly how many full line Sears and Kmarts are left, for Years. That elevator dude has made about 77 YT videos about it. The information is out there.

So back to my original question......why does he not update his website? Is he embarrassed about the laughably low quantity of remaining stores? Is it a weak attempt at trolling us? What exactly is his angle? Plus another thing, is if one looks on a computer, we see different stores listed than if one accesses the site through a mobile device. Just like his Sears Jobs site, the store locater site is woefully inadequate.

@7oiz+1g2QvRmN Urposely is not a word. And Sears Hometowns ARE a form of Sears. There is a separate Sears Hometown locator site.

Removing Hometown stores was the right thing to do. Hometown stores aren't Sears stores. Transformco urposefully removing Hometown Stores from the Sears store list is an acknowledgement of that reality.

Another indication that nobody's taking care of the store list: https://www.sears.com/stores.html still offers "Sears Auto Centers" as a checkbox when searching. There are no more Sears Auto Centers.

I'm not sure how many of the other checkbox categories (Sears Parts and Repair Centers, Sears Appliance Outlet Stores, Hardware Stores, Hometown Dealers, and Sears PartsDirect) still exist either.

The store locator months ago removed all Hometown Stores, even those that remain open.

It's kind of funny how @searscares last tweeted in 2019. It makes for a pretty great marker for when everyone at Sears stopped caring. You can see over time how many IT moving parts stopped working with the canning of various departments. Sears Home Services' social media presence died for quite awhile when he head left. The stages downsizing in HE IT. The shuttering of Sears Israel. Ending the outsourcing contract with Tech Mahindra stopped a whole bunch of things. Many things stopped with each instance of CIO turnover. It seems like ShopYourWay 's plans completely died when Leena turned in her resignation too.

Welp, they had someone available on staff, to revamp their Sears jobs site recently, so there is that. Admittedly they did a horrible job at it, but just Saying, they still obviously have at least SOME tech people on hand.

At this point in time, there is probably nobody left in the company that cares to update the listings.

With the state of the company now, there is likely not much incentive to worry about updating the list.

@1ptk+1g2QvRmN I'm sure you're right. They just don't have anyone left to fix it. Although, how hard would it be? They could get any typical 20 Year old nerd with coding skills, to fix it in a few Minutes. I think, what he's doing is more intentional, so as (in his mind) he keeps people from ascertaining exactly how many stores are left. Of course, that's only IN HIS MIND, because in real life, we Know exactly how many full line stores of both brands, are left.

My guess is that nobody is being paid anymore to keep this site (or the Sears site) up to date anymore. Sears.com also lists numerous closed stores such as Brooklyn NY as still open.

Oh, you have to admit it is a little charming. It reminds of us of a simpler time. A time when store lists were hand painted and a solid gold pocket watch kept time to within +/- 5 minutes per day. I for one approve!

Guess what's even worse. Go to their FB site,

and ask them, for example, what Kmart stores are available in California. The outsourced id1ots that run that page, will just read off the Kmart website and list the stores like Grass Valley, Freedom, etc., completely oblivious to the fact that they are already closed. They are just reading off of their computer screens in Mumbai India, or wherever LOL. Clueless doesn't even begin to describe them.

If you go ^ there, and put in the zip codes, for 10473, 95945, & 49068, they still list pharmacies in Bronx, Grass Valley, & Marshall, respectively, all which have long since closed. They might even be violating some laws by listing licensed pharmacy locations, which in actuality are not even open.
