The next round will be managers and TEY men and women. From what I was told Sr MTO, MTO, MYO will be next slashing those positions replacing them with Terminal Trainmasters. Union Pacific has notified The United States Goverment it will be doing a massive workforce reduction in Nebraska, Arkansas, Oregon, Texas and Louisanna. Almost to the tune of 7000 employees which is an increase of 1300 from 2009. Union Pacific operating ratio is still high regardless of the G55 push. Severe layoffs are coming and I would not be surprised if they do it before Christmas.

Yes this happened to me 2. Worked here many years. Fed Ex just say no more job.
This no way to treat long employee of time. Shame. I now no have job. Very sad.
Sadly, at times of layoff we are treated like criminals. Times have changed such that there is fear of violent retaliation by employees. In 1978, after 30 years at his job my dad was "retired". He was only 55 but was treated with much more respect. He was ready for it though wished he had a little more time. Chin up, you did nothing wrong and deserve so much better!
Applied with Union Pacific in a cattle call at a Hilton Hotel about 15 years ago. I was the only one in the room offered a job; $52k a year to start. HOWEVER, if they need you to come in on a day or night off, you have to be there in 45 minutes, or explain to the next person on the list why you couldn't. Also you may have to lay over in another part of the country for weeks or longer, having to pay for a hotel as well as your home mortgage / rent. When I asked about being out to dinner or a movie if I'm called, I was told, "When you work for U.P.that all goes away." I'm surprised they have any applicants at all.
3 year old post and Union Pacific has only gotten worse since then. With 326,000 view on this post alone at least people know about it. I'd hate to be a recruiter for UP.
India and China are NOT taking our jobs - they are not to blame. It's the American CEOs that are making the decision to offshore. Blame the Americans execs, who want to pocket more money.
US JOBS. They are Just as bad as China taking away our jobs and technical know-how. Our US Citizen are being laid off and their jobs are shipped to India. HCL and all other Indian companies are nothing less than Information Technologies SPIES and we need to treat them that way. Our Computer Science Graduates in the US are unable to find a job because they are competing with $10000 to $20000 Indian counterparts. REBEL AMERICA REBEL!!! XEROX used to be the shining start of technologies especially in their PARC technology center in Palo Alto. They are GONE so do other big six consulting US firms. Microsoft and Accenture new jobs are all in India. Boycott all companies who ship our US job to INDIAN BRAIN. THIS IS TECHNOLOGY SPYING AT BEST! XEROX 6000 FTE JOBS are gone so do 6 millions american jobs for that past 20 years. BE ACTIVE AND REBELL NOW.
UP laid off 118 from the shops a couple of months ago in NoPlatte Ne laid off 87 carmen 5 days ago, with a goal of 150 laid off total as of 6/9/19. 30 people laid off from South Morrel same day.

Nobody cares about PepsiCo on this 3 year old Post, not about PepsiCo.
They lay you off when they are Top Heavy, so they DON’T have to pay pensions for a 3 Year Vesting Period, versus 5, when they’re Not Top Heavy.
Does anyone know if PepsiCo was Top Heavy in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 ?
Not a surprise for me from such corporations, they all do the same! No matter how long you broke your butt to make them richer. They very arrrogants not counting the sinical way of treating people. Not fun at all to find yourself working for any of those. No Mercy!
Good Luck with your next enterprise,
MC
H1B Visa folks are favored over American citizens. H1B Visas are Responsible for IT Layoffs. What a disgusting bunch of people who come to my country and just 'take'...
1999 Chevrolet Cavalier
166k Mi, $2,000 OBO
Well maintained, kept in good working condition. Minor cosmetic damage to exterior, but otherwise fine. PM for more details, serious buyers only.
Yep, same thing happened to me. I didn't have a single traffic infraction, not one customer complaint, got along with everyone. Been with UPS for 7 years and they escort me out like I'm going to steal all the packing tape.
Why don't these posts have dates?
This is UPRR company thread, dont post if you dont work here
That s---s, bro. What company?
Glen Post? If you can't figure out that this is the forum for Union Pacific and not Level3 or CenturyLink or whomever else, maybe you deserved to get laid off.
Glen Post let the devil run the company into the ground. Jeff and All those greedy executives in Broomfield will take their bonuses and ride off into the sunset
This message is for Union Pacific Corp. The replies should be for Union Pacific only.
Sorry to hear this. I wish you all the best.
Why is it so hard for people on here to post on the board of the company they're actually talking about? In this thread there are people complaining about numerous companies that are not Union Pacific.
Our whole team was let go on a Friday afternoon in June , everyone on the team was 40 or older. So yes age discrimination and yes only Centurylink employees, no Level3 employees. I have heard from other CTL employees that there has been several people still being let go and more to be laid off this year. Greedy executives want bonuses.
There is no loyalty with this company any more, after the L3 CEO took over. Glen Post took his money and left all Centurylink employees hanging out to dry.
the san diego rrd plant shut down on july 16th 2018. began operating in '77 as International Graphics, a division of Moore business forms. Went thru a few mergers and name changes until Donnelley bought it up about 12-13 years ago. I worked there from oct. 78. just fell shy of 40 years and they would not give me my 40 year service award. that's ok ill take the severance.
For those of you experiencing this in mass, you should check with your state's labor department, because many state have laws that require departmental (non-union) layoffs of 40% or more require a 60 to 90 day notification.
Having suffered thru this in 1997, after 14 years of service with a large architectural firm in KCMO and received NO severance I can tell you that proofing age discrimination is difficult, but seek a lawyer that is a specialist in EOE law.
Today, you have "hostile work environments" and that may be more of a leverage than age, or gender.
Good luck.
Just realize this is for Union Pacific Corp, not my company... It was posted a year ago in 2017.
Haha! That happened too many of us in our department! What is the bottom line at United Healthcare? Money money and more money! But just for them not for you and I!
Marketing department. Any updates on if it’s staying or eliminating ????
Did they send you off in style with a severance I hope or just a party
I got laid off the same way with 22 years. Many people I work with were also laid off. Everyone was 40 plus years old and had many years of service. The younger less seiniored people were kept. So march 30th when we are all termed the company gets all our reserve stock units back that are not vested yet. For me this is 40 thousand dollars so if you multiply that out to 500 people and I am sure most had more then that. Walmart will have even more money from it. It's disgraceful. I'm wondering if any law firm may see there may be a class action law suit here that could be substantial.
Age discrimination for sure. Same job but the ones who were kept were either young or had the buddy system going.
I am so sorry to hear this. My husband recently went through the same thing. They did not rehire him we feel due to his age and earnings. When he was denied work there and not rehired they did Not allow him to even get into his locker to get his belonging and take them with him, they escorted him off the plant. Not only did he lose his job of many, many years he was treated like a criminal. It was humiliating and devastating to him. The very guy he was forced to train for a year got his job, who was much younger. I know how you feel being treated like this if you can sue do it.
@JpLz7lj-2nhsx, Unions have become as bad as the politicians. There was a point in time where they were needed but the model has changed and they're not changing with it but rather getting rich off the backs of the very workers they represent. I watched how the union handled things when my father's company went on strike many years ago while he was on vacation. This was pre-direct deposit days and all he wanted was to pick up his paycheck to feed his family. Those same union guys which were supposed to be on his side almost destroyed his car as he crossed the picket line to get his check. Finally my mother floored it and the scattered like the rats they were. Hearing that story growing up, I would never be part of a union. Unions only serve the lazy by getting them the same package the hard workers would get on their own anyway.
"Trumper All The Way".....Why so triggered? Hoping the ORANGE CLOWN will grab your P@SSY? #Pathetic
Guys - this post is for Union Pacific Corp. layoffs
So sorry to hear, but evil corporate mgmt is known to drop the ax during the holidays just to show their gratitude for these dedicated employees.
