Does it seem tacky to anyone else that management are being “kind and generous” to offer another bonus program (based on the company hitting certain goals for remainder of 2020)? In the same year they did two rounds of large layoffs, plus under the radar smaller round layoffs????
Let’s all celebrate the “reducing expenses/ mass sacrifice of colleagues” by rewarding you survivors with sc-aps of their former wages!?!?! But only if you’re well behaved.
I think it’s -
- ) a trap - goals are overly ambitious in current poor retail climate, therefore not achievable, and so the ‘bonus’ is just a new carrot to dangle in front of us.
- ) A mega trap - as above, Plus- a way to squeeze out more productivity from a very demoralized / stressed workforce, under the mask of “positivity / optimism”,
- ) a Classic corporate tactic - Maybe a wage & tax dodge as Company will pay less overall out (bonuses as one-time payments for work performed last calendar year). for majority of workers, lower than Director-levels, the bonus amount is going to be cheaper than paying out everyone’s “necessary sacrifice” of lost 10% salary for 9 months (or more!)
Awful all- around. Don’t be tricked into feeling “rewarded”.
