Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

Morally bankrupt

Does it seem tacky to anyone else that management are being “kind and generous” to offer another bonus program (based on the company hitting certain goals for remainder of 2020)? In the same year they did two rounds of large layoffs, plus under the radar smaller round layoffs????

Let’s all celebrate the “reducing expenses/ mass sacrifice of colleagues” by rewarding you survivors with sc-aps of their former wages!?!?! But only if you’re well behaved.

I think it’s -

  1. ) a trap - goals are overly ambitious in current poor retail climate, therefore not achievable, and so the ‘bonus’ is just a new carrot to dangle in front of us.
  2. ) A mega trap - as above, Plus- a way to squeeze out more productivity from a very demoralized / stressed workforce, under the mask of “positivity / optimism”,
  3. ) a Classic corporate tactic - Maybe a wage & tax dodge as Company will pay less overall out (bonuses as one-time payments for work performed last calendar year). for majority of workers, lower than Director-levels, the bonus amount is going to be cheaper than paying out everyone’s “necessary sacrifice” of lost 10% salary for 9 months (or more!)

Awful all- around. Don’t be tricked into feeling “rewarded”.

Salaried full time employees were eligible for bonus, not sure about other worker types.

Bonus? I haven't heard anything about it, does it mean only few will get the bonus?

Well the bonus % is absolutely sh– this year, so they are hardly giving anything.
I just can't believe how tone deaf leadership is when it comes to it, they spend all of the last huddle bragging about how much money we are saving on our operating expenses.... well yeah.. we all know where that money came from, our salaries and our friends jobs.

@7wnr+16E9BZn1 Thank you! And I honestly believe that those that had negative reaction to the ABSOLUTELY TRUE statement are the same one's that either condone that type of behavior and quite possibly engage in it. To them I say good luck with that type of behavior when you're forced to seek employment elsewhere as many companies engage in behavioral assessments before even offering to interview you. MANY companies do not condone that type of behavior and will show you the door...quickly! Let the "negative" begin! Truth hurts doesn't it!

If I see another survey this year I might just throw up! Friend at work? Are you comfortable? Do you have everything you need to do your job? None of that matters. Way too much time and money are thrown at a culture that cannot be revived. Get back to grinding out the work. As for Bullying, yes it exists and is not reported because employees no longer have a voice at the company.

@6sdx+16E9BZn1 BRAVO with regard to ''developing friendships is a bonus and should not be a forced requirement to succeed at Fossil!'' We aren't looking to be back in high school again with clicks and bullying.

Only the truly useless left on board at this point and that includes Kosta. Uninspired and incompetent management is what Fossil does best. Only company I have ever worked for where I was punished for being successful. Nobody needs that toxic culture.

WOW, you missed the point of comprehension...the 'fun' part obviously was the Fossil of old.....as duh, most if not all of us are working from home!
The friend part, again, pertains to Fossil departments as a whole not just HR.

I got laid off in the last round of layoffs in June and it’s sad to read how unhappy of a workplace Fossil has become for some. Makes me feel like I was lucky to be let go.
I recently got a job which I’m so excited about and want to encourage those looking/contemplating looking positions are opening up, there is hope and options out there. Good luck to everyone including Fossil. I still wish the best for the company.

When HR listens to the ‘Title Workers’ more than the ‘Workers’ when an issue comes up then yes they need to evaluate how they can reassess these situations better!

No one is looking for a friend in HR but we can appreciate and acknowledge those that actually look at your case and listen to both sides fairly vs those that just listen to upper managements and don’t give the other side a chance to voice their concerns/experiences!

Fun?! - no one is finding being understaffed, overworked, underpaid, then having a promise of a bonus dangled in front of them fun! Exhausted rather! Please don’t say if I’m unhappy to go look for another job - believe me that is what most of us are doing!

No one is doubting that there are "great" people...according to you...in HR. HR is established as a bridge between the company and it's employees. However in regards to Fossil's HR the bridge is more self serving as with the persona of most of Fossil's management and upper management. It's an "all about me" and a "see me do as I do" culture. No professionalism, no focus on the job you are actually hired for. It's a workplace not a playground. Sure I love the fun corporate culture but stop expecting or forcing everyone to be your "friend" it simply wasn't a item on the job description...developing friendships is a bonus and should not be a forced requirement to succeed at Fossil!

I know a few great people in HR but HR is basically there to protect the company.

I doubt the bonus program was HRs’s idea, that had to come from EVP higher ups!

IF Fossil does survive, consider revamping your HR department...just saying! Too easily swayed with the idea of friendships with department management and upper management rather than listening to employee concerns. Might make for a better company overall when you consider the "workers" and not the TITLE holders. 🤷‍♂️

Fossil has done better than expected in my opinion HR wise.
These are difficult times for everyone and Fossil may not survive but life will go on. I for one will have fond memories of the way Fossil treated its employees. Sad ending IF the story is ending. I hope by some miracle it can survive but the odds are not good.

Will bet my salary that this wonderful idea came from Darren or Kosta because they’re freaking out with all the people leaving (voluntarily). None of us care about a bonus. Give us our full salary and remove half of the worthless leaders.
