Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Mass Casualty Activation System

When the red light flashes ON and the MCAS is engaged, kiss your arse goodbye, you are already dead.

And don't imagine that you are safe on the ground – MCAS can strike anywhere. When the Boeing DC-10 with MCAS crashed for flight 191 at O'Hare, it k–led 2 people on the ground.

The Mass Casualty Activation System is a competitive advantage, a real game-changer for the industry.

https://www.thedrive.com/news/china-bans-most-russian-planes-from-airspace-because-theyre-stolen

  • Stolen Aircraft Band from Chinese Airspace

Russia's domestic aviation industry continues to struggle intensely in the wake
of the country's invasion of Ukraine. First,
Russia was cut off from genuine parts supplies for its Western-made commercial
planes, as Airbus and Boeing announced that they would stop sales of parts and
services to Russian aviation companies. Next, European leasing firms sought to
repossess jets leased by Russian carriers by revoking their
airworthiness certifications.
In an unprecedented move, Vladimir Putin allowed Russian aviation companies
to steal those leased aircraft and re-register them in Russia,
violating decades-old international standards and causing European companies
to lose an estimated $10 billion in airplanes.

That theft was too much for an otherwise mostly neutral China to tolerate.
The Chinese Civil Aviation Authority announced earlier this week
that those stolen planes are no longer allowed in its airspace,
closing off even more of the globe to most Russian air traffic.

737 Max Simulator Bugs Ground Pilots:
https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2022/apr/14/737-max-simulator-bugs-ground-pilots/?business

A routine check of the simulator revealed deficiencies,
and an investigation is underway to discover what caused them,
Arun Kumar, chief of India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation,
told Bloomberg News.

Indian regulators found glitches with the flight controls and a stick shaker,
according to people familiar with the matter.
(Boeing owns the simulator), which was provided to SpiceJet Ltd.
and new carrier Akasa Air for pilot training, the people said,
asking not to be identified because the information wasn't public.

Boeing installed the simulator in Noida, near New Delhi, meeting a
requirement by India to clear the 737 Max to return to the country's skies.
The aircraft model, a Boeing bestseller, was grounded globally in March 2019
following cгasҺes in Indonesia and Ethiopia that Кillҽd everyone.
It has returned to service in most markets, besides China.

"We have barred these pilots from flying Max and they have to
retrain successfully," Kumar said. "We will take strict action against
those found responsible for the lapse."
A Boeing representative in India didn't have an immediate comment
on the matter.

Czech airline sues Boeing over losses related to 737 MAX
https://www.thestate.com/news/business/national-business/article252329248.html

Czech airline Smartwings filed suit against Boeing in Seattle on Tuesday for
the damage to its business from the fatal crashes and subsequent grounding
of the 737 MAX.

In the suit, moved to King County Superior Court from a court in Boeing’s
headquarter city of Chicago, the airline is seeking compensation for the
financial losses incurred as well as the return of one airplane and the refund of
payments on that jet and advance payments on others,
the Seattle Times reported.

Boeing declined to comment on the lawsuit.

Smartwings ordered eight MAXs directly from Boeing and agreed to lease
an additional 31 MAXs. It took its first delivery of a MAX in January 2018
and took six more leased planes from the Renton assembly plant before
the deathtrap was grounded after the second crash in March 2019.

Feb 8, 2021
Last Monday, Boeing reduced its firm backlog on the 777X
to 191 aircraft, a 38% drop, as the delay until 2023 allowing customers
an “out” to their orders.
Emirates, the largest customer for the existing 777 and key customer
for the 777X indicated that it may split its orders between the 777X
and the smaller 787.

This does not bode well for the 777X, which hasn’t won a new order
in quite some time and given that it will be the largest aircraft available
from Boeing and a 747 replacement, is unlikely to gain new orders in
the near future, this is especially true with the A321XLR becoming
available at the same time as Boeing problematic 777X

How Long Will The Already-Built 737 MAXs Take To Enter Service?
To say Nothing, of the already 300 that were in service…………………
https://simpleflying.com/how-long-will-the-already-built-737-maxs-take-to-enter-service/
Boeing has set itself an ambitious timeline for delivering the stored inventory
of 737 MAX aircraft. Earlier this year, it said it wanted to get most of the 450
aircraft settled with airlines within the first year of the type being approved
to fly again.
People in hell want ice water too.

Boeing faces the largest inventory of built new aircraft in its history of more
than 100 years.
Inventory has been built and has been growing, and so have the number
of cancellations every week.
Boeing has to make some tough decisions, before the end of the year,
on how to deal with this.
Your All Fired

In July, Boeing stated that it would deliver most of the 450-strong stockpile
within one year of resuming deliveries. Indeed, during its second-quarter
earnings call, the company said it would prioritize deliveries ahead of new
aircraft manufacture in a bid to get those planes out of the door.

Call for more redundancy of Max systems
https://airinsight.com/call-for-more-redundancy-of-max-systems/

Pilots organizations, technical experts, and others have called on
the FAA to take additional measures to make the Max safer before
it can return to service.
Among the recommendations is the installation of a third Angle of Attack
Sensor to feed the Max flight computers for extra redundancy as is the
Case with Airbus. As well as enhanced crew training to turn MCAS off

@3Cidy+12F13yzw more fear mongering. Acting like these are NEW changes. These are the changes ALREADY TESTED and shown to the FAA. This is the Airworthiness Directive that they said was being published in articles 3 weeks ago. Its finally out for 45 days of comment.

Your cost information is spot on, yes it will take over 40k per a/c. However, if you actually worked in aerospace you would know 40k per plane is a steal. You can't change anything on an airplane formless than 40k and for all the changes required, its underpriced.

Crawl back in your moms basement and practice flipping your burgers. Leave the building of aircraft to real men ok?

If all the changes in the proposed airworthiness directive are approved,
the bill to airlines would cost an estimated $14,160 per aircraft.
For Southwest Airlines, holds the largest domestic fleet of 737 MAX-8
the cost of compliance could come to a total of over $481,000.

According to the FAA. the remaining tasks for the MAX include:

  • JOEB Validation & FSB Review – The FAA’s Flight Standardization Board (FSB) and the Joint Operations Evaluation Board (JOEB) which includes international partners from Canada, Europe, and Brazil will evaluate minimum pilot training requirements. The FSB will issue a draft report for public comment addressing the findings of the FSB and JOEB.
  • Final FSB Report – The FAA will publish a final FSB report after reviewing and addressing public comments.
  • Final Design Documentation and TAB Report – The FAA will review Boeing’s final design documentation in order to evaluate compliance with all FAA regulations. The multi-agency Technical Advisory Board (TAB) will also review the final Boeing submission and issue a final report prior to a final determination of compliance by the FAA.
  • CANIC & AD – The FAA will issue a Continued Airworthiness Notification to the International Community (CANIC) providing notice of pending significant safety actions and will publish an Airworthiness Directive (AD) that addresses the known issues for grounding. The AD will advise operators of required corrective actions before aircraft may re-enter commercial service.
  • FAA Rescinds Grounding Order – This marks the official ungrounding of the aircraft, pending completion by operators of the work specified in the AD, along with any required training.
  • Certificates of Airworthiness – The FAA will retain its authority to issue airworthiness certificates and export certificates for all new 737 MAX airplanes manufactured since the grounding. The FAA will perform in-person, individual reviews of these aircraft.
  • Operator Training Programs – The FAA will review and approve training programs for all part 121 operators.

European safety regulators are reportedly demanding Boeing make
substantial changes to its 737 Max, including retrofits to the planes already

The modifications would undo some of Boeing's efforts to avoid revamping

used on Airbus' rival A320 jet.
