Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Missed pay

If I'm not mistaken iam will miss their 1st full paycheck next week. For your family's sake take the 25% increase and get your as--s back to work. Things have gotten more expensive for us all, but truthfully you're not getting a 40% increase. Take the 25% and let's build some airplanes.

@6keh+1uExFT8w, relax dude I guess I inadvertently struck a nerve close to home huh ??? You in south carolina ??? I don't know about any comment made regarding the first offer or how boeing circumvented the process or any of that other stuff you're rambling on about !!! My comment was only in regards to the original post.

The IAM contract expires once every 4 years, now 7. So toward that end you had better hope for the best but plan for the worse if you plan on making boeing a career. Toward that end IAM members plan for the worse, on a strike happening. The foolish ones start saving once every 4 years then if there is no strike they throw a party and drain their strike fund. The smart ones build up that fund ONCE then don't touch it and avoid the helter skelter savings go round every 4 years. In this way they're ready for a 3 - 4 month strike at ANY time regardess of cost of living differences between Seattle and North Charleston. Get control - Don't Be Controlled.

The question becomes not how is it that Seattle IAM folks were able to save up for this strike but how come YOU got caught with your pants down if this strike were to last a few months and you got furlough'd ??? One of your more senior co-workers should have warned you about this but if you're in South Carolina you don't have any senior co-workers that have been thru a strike. You're flying into this one blind.

The cost of living between Seattle and North Charleston is negliable. Home prices since boeing opened shop there are about the same. Inflation has hit north charleston bigtime. The only difference between both locales is the heat, the total lack of professional sports, and PAY. People in Seattle get paid a lot more than in South Carolina. This is why IAM was able to save up 3 - 4 months worth of a strike fund over the course of time. And why like it or not this strike is going to last for a while. Boeing wants it to last for a while because they won't have to pay for the late airplane delivery penalties owed to the customers as long as this strike lasts. So I'm sorry to inform you but a furlough is in your future.

If you plan on making boeing a career this is your future once every 7 years or however long they sign a contract for. No one is changing their story to suit their purpose nor talking out of both sides of their mouth. You are confusing me with some other poster. Don't let your confusion and fear of being furloughed bring out your ignorance and negative outlook on life. Start building up a 3 - 4 month strike fund that you won't touch or go find another job !!!!

Just get your calculator out and multiply the monthly dues times 33,000 members.
That's how much your leadership team makes every month.
What do you get for that pumpkin!

Are you kidding me?

The union claims that there are delays in strike pay because several members share the same names?

What kind of Mickey Mouse outfit is this? If only there was a way to distinguish between different people with the same name. Something unique like an SSN, a badge number, or maybe a Union Member ID number.

Seriously, if they can't deliver something as simple as strike pay, you trust them to negotiate an offer?

Come on @3qhc+1uExFT8w

The argument is that the majority of the union is living paycheck to paycheck because housing and other expenses are higher in PNW.

But you are saying that people have been putting 3 mo salary away for the last 4 years.

It can't be both. Quit talking out of both sides of your mouth.

You pay a sh-t ton of dues and all you get is $250/week from the union. When you get it, there have been issues with that.

You ask them to "negotiate" but they take zero initiative. They wait for mother Boeing to make an offer rather than giving a proposal.

They use the media to make their points with the public and point out the flaws of Boeing. But when Boeing does it, they cry unfair labor practices.

With the first offer you complained that it was not negotiated with the membership and Union leadership didn't share and just caved and recommended approval, But when Boeing shares the offer with the entire membership, you complain it didn't go through union leadership.

You change the story when it suits you, which makes you no better than Boeing.

Give the last offer and up or down vote and go from there.

Oldtimer you hit the nail on the head. Our loss of benefits is nothing but money for salary bonuses all around. When backed into a corner you must fight to survive.

Based on all but one of the comments I've read in this post you all must be new and this is your first strike experience. Boeing has the money to give a 35 to 40% gwi. The pension also yes but they won't because then they'd have to restore it to Speea and the non-union folks which they don't wanna. Where do you think they're getting the money to pay out the big buck bonuses to calhoun and the other execs ??? They're getting it from the money they've saved by ending the pension for everyone but exec management which still gets a pension btw. If this strike goes over 6 - 7 - 8 weeks boeing will fold like origami !!!!

The majority of striking workers have been saving and setting aside a strike savings for the past 4+ years. They're prepared to remain on strike for a few months if need be. Boeing is not in a position to wait 3 months. If this last over a month boeing will bend over !!!!

Yea i agree 40% gwi aint happening. Or the pension. Inflation driven by scamdemic and bidenomics. Plus tech industry in the area driving up housing
