Can’t your dad who got you your job at Boeing find you something productive to do with your time at work?

Boeing made a huge mistake outsourcing the 787 to partners. Most of the employees did not get a chance to learn by designing and analyzing parts for the 787. Most of them were stuck doing integration or supplier management.

No you don’t have the highly skilled team of engineers and mechanics The Boeing has traditionally counted on for new program development.

They were completely dependent on suppliers.

Now they want to design a new airplane with an untrained workforce who has no previous design experience on a new aircraft program. They pushed out the door majority of their older employees who had experience on the 737 and 777.

Whatever timeframe and budget they have in place for a new aircraft program is sure to be insufficient. This is exactly what happens when you don’t keep design and manufacturing in house. You reap the seeds that you sow.

There won't be anymore Boeing new planes. This is just the expected Boeing PR hype to create more time for Boeing executives to squeeze the last dollars from this failed company into their personal pockets. We have seen this saga all too many times before.

A very interesting reply’ obviously with some knowledge, yet Boeing has sold that plane on prospect design’ they will need to engineer and and get get the design to production, with Boeings track record 30 billion seems appropriate.

Where do you get 30 billion development cost to design 777X freighter? I think that's the order value but half of the order is passenger to freighter conversion that Qatar ordered from Boeing before so the real net value is only a few billion given the steep discount for the launch customer so Boeing could make even or lost because of development cost (freighter conversion design is faster and easier than passenger). This article mention that 777X freighter would be several years behind A350F so BA just play catch-up game. If Airbus is smart enough to resolve the paint issue, Qatar would come back and cut BA freighter order if BA does not perform .
