Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

What would it take to make you stay?

What things would need to happen in order for people to stay here and do you see yourself still employed with Centene a year from now?

I’ve been with this company for many many many years and I will say this, “ it’s not what you know..it’s who you know”. You pi-s someone off you’ll be blackballed for many many many years , hostile work environment is an understatement! Sad to say the only way to progress is don’t do your job, jerk off all day, kiss 💋 assssssss and keep yourself invisible and you’ll be promoted, get raises and kept around as the “ great workers” get the 🥾… Centenes MO!!! I had to just become invisible make no waves to get a mental break from the “hostility “ that broke my spirit . Now I keep silent do what I gotta do and pray they forget I exist until I can retire.

I agree with what most people said. The biggest one is that I make less money than some of my subordinates and I have more experience than they do and they have only been at Centene 6 months longer than me, there is no reason they should make more than their supervisor.
Honestly, the whole WC acquisition and integration was horrible and WC is taking over all leadership and processes and there is no way for LCNC staff to get promoted now. I know people from LWC who got promoted over someone who had been there much longer and she had only joined the team 3 months prior.
Stop expanding and let us settle down.

Pay me what I am worth, only expect me to do the job of one person not six, wfh forever, and leadership that is not always lying. I cannot respect them when they lie all the time. January 27th cannot come fast enough.

@5xib+1eeIR6SS You are absolutely correct!!!! The ones that are tired and have been working since a very very young age to survive and are only a few years from retirement are not gonna leave after many years of service, don’t think for one minute after YEARS of service to a company that once was respected we can’t see the GREED and LIES. I’m thinking by the end of 2022 Centene will be sold ( hedge fund maybe) and it will be the ones that have done 3 to 4 ppls work and are mentally abused by our superiors EVERYDAY that we will be the first to go. You better bet I’ll go but they better pay me well to go quietly. I’m slowing down my production I’m exhausted.. let them fire me THEN ITS ON!!!

It would take an entire cultural upheaval - the kind that isn’t likely, and if it does happen takes years - years of my life I’m not willing to waste. The org is too big. Too many acquisitions in too short of time. And the org goal just doesn’t work for me. The goal isn’t to do good business or provide excellent care to those who need it most. Sure that’s what has to be said, but the only real goal is to grow as big as possible and take as much money in as possible, which means constant upheaval. And since appearing to do good business is very different than actually doing good business, that is a focal point too (although even the appearance of doing good business is a clear area of much needed improvement). So your goals and mine don’t align, Centene. I like to do good work that matters. I also like to work for and with people who respect me. And I like to hold positions that are manageable - that doesn’t mean I’m looking for a 40 hour work week; it means I’m looking for a position that is actually a one person job and not really 3 positions rolled into one so the org can save more money at my expense and the expense of its members. I know my worth. And I’m better than that. So there’s nothing you can do to make me stay. But you shouldn’t worry about me - when I quit, I leave. You should worry about those who quit and stay - there’s not a lot of incentive to care once you understand Centene’s business model, and I don’t think you’re fooling anyone.

What would it take?

100% work from home for those that want it for themselves! No questions or debates. No differing opinions between departments. None of that BS. Be like PWC and others that are thinking progressively.

Career growth! People shouldn’t be expected to be content in the same role for years. If they’re ready, move them up.

Fare pay for those with more experience! How dare you bring in people with no LTC experience and pay them more money than someone who’s worked 5+ years! There should be a pay differential for those with higher education/credentials. There’s no way an LPN should be equivalent to someone with a Master’s degree!

Let's start with annual raises being more then what 3% ? Inflation is generally 5% but this year it has skyrocketed. This needs to be aligned better. This company brings in BILLIONS, the CEO has given himself almost 80 million pay raise since 2020 on top of his multimillion dollar salary already! While some of us only saw .60 cent raises, disgusting. Shave 500 million off the bottom line and give us appropriate raises to live in an expensive world. How about giving out Christmas Bonuses? Wellcare use to give us 750 Christmas bonus. Maybe call it a Holiday Bonus to be inclusive. (Although I do know of much, much smaller companies giving out 1,500-2,000 Christmas bonuses. To higher ups bringing in 200k a year + that may not seem like a lot but to the rest of us making 35k-60k it's a nice gesture.)

Better 401k match would also be nice. The wording is misleading. "100% match up to half of 6%".. Wtf is that?? Just say up to 3%. LoL Before Wellcare my old company was 100% matched up to 8%. I put in 8% they put in 8%. If I put in 10% they still put in 8% if I did 5% they matched 5% very simple.

Health insurance! Every year I look at this and scoff. We are the largest Health insurance company, why isn't this better?? I wonder how many people don't have insurance due to not being able to afford it?

Work from home and a 6 percent raise time off ( more then allotted) . More then a 3 percent bonus , when MFN is making bank!!! Insurance the way it was , ridiculous that our good insurance taken away and then the insurance premiums raised.. this company care not one bit about any of us!!!!!

Let’s see…
More then 6 percent raise to counter the increase in our cr-p benefits and inflation. Also a full bonus, due to the trauma we’ve endured mentally, especially in Ohio. Supervisor that don’t treat you like cr-p when you give them 100 percent and there “ pets” are lazy and get treated like gold. Time away from work , more then given now. Especially because of mental health of all in the USA.. shall I go on????????

It would take an ACTUAL RAISE that affects our lives. Not the 2.5 - 3% amount that allows us to buy a fast food lunch a week.

AND for management to code us as work from home when it is the BEST option for thier team. (understanding not all teams can do this) IT teams should be allowed FULL TIME work from home when they do not need to be in offices for any reason.

This question seems to be from HR. Probably should not have laid off so many good employees earlier this year. You wouldn't be asking the question had that not happened.

I’ve actually found a team/management that has minimum stress and that I actually feel I have a work life balance. I just wish I had the real option to work fully remote permanently.
