Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Misery in IT

Anyone else feel the IT leaders have robbed us of all hope and joy? Not motivated after this brutal reorganization . I’ve just lost all faith after seeing top talent let go while the lower performers stay.

Yes @5znu+1vQtMgY7, that’s smart!! Just outsource and sell the single thing which is probably most pivotal for any business to run. The leaders at TSC will never use that position to their advantage.

Just outsource all IT to BNG and then sell it to TCS or the likes. Why not? Not sure what makes the expensive Shell IT leaders so significant and worth the costs?

@efz+1vQtMgY7 right.., just put in your 40 hrs/week, dont go above and beyond, and cheered your time outside of work

Look at the deal to offload uk operational assets today and think about it. They actually make oil for an oil company. IT doesn’t make oil but makes overheads. It’s back to basics now and all the bloat will be let go. Best to plan for a career elsewhere.

when you make the top talent leave and begin to fire the bottom 10% each year and get rid of the ability to get promoted fairly

all you have done is create a culture of middle of the road performers who job hop after 2-3 years

incentives -> outcomes.
senior LT is shortsighted. or worse, they know this is the outcome but don’t care because it makes the stock go up for one quarter. long term consequences not in the thinking

Find hope and joy outside of your job.
