LOL They definitely made layoffs. Eliminated entire positions, dumped hundreds of employees despite record profitability in the middle of the worst economy in years. I was personally responsible for generating nearly $25m in revenue this fiscal year and released despite very good annual assessments and over achieving on quota every year for the past 4 years. My direct supervisor had even submitted me in to get a raise (nearly unheard of at Broadcom) right before all of this happened.

Hock Tan and Charlie Kawas are the 2 biggest pieces of sh– on the planet. Hope his 120million dollar paycheck lets him sleep at night while hundreds of families of previously loyal and productive employees struggle to find work in a rapidly shrinking economy.

Charlie: I personally hope for horrible things to happen to you, but we know nothing will because a–holes live forever.
Hock: Keep on selling air you fatuous windbag.

Had more layoffs in NY this past week. There are smaller layoffs to get numbers below WARN so the company does not have to comply to certain laws (NY, Calif). If your worried your going to be laid off, leave now as they give no excuses and severance is being cut again.

Is there anyway to find out the numbers of layoffs in California?
I do not see anything under Broadcom Inc or CA Technologies under WARN notices

I am pretty sure that Broadcom is not a good mid-term/long-term option.

Since we got acquired politics within the division grew exponentially, this is not a context that allows you to be successful and innovate.

@5ngs+14JX3RP1 Yes that’s typical behavior for managers as it relates to ranking.

Exactly. Broadcom management provides no value. Rambling drivel in meetings that helps 0 in my day to day tasks. This isn’t to be insulting they know it to be true. Some even openly joke about being paid to do nothing. Just about all they do is give out ranking twice a year. This is the rubric they use

1 - employees that are friends
2 - employees that are neutral towards
3 - employees that manager doesn’t like

Notice the ranking has nothing to do with work accomplished. That is because said manager wouldn’t actually know. They have been working from home running their side hustle, taking care of their kids, watching Netflix. Yes Netflix. It’s so funny how a manager comes in day after working from home has suddenly been all caught up on whatever series. Yet my emails from day before went unanswered.

Same thing here in San Jose. Management always working from home, sets a bad example for team. Come Friday or Monday nobody in office. Politics/water cooler talk especially with some of the guest workers. I would bet they spend more time trying to cover for their own incompetence than doing work. Broadcom management takes care of their own. Always. As long as there is a direct report or two they can give a 3 to, they are shielded from team shortcomings. If HR knew the truth there wouldn’t be managers left

@4zpj+14JX3RP1 It's hard to say, as some people were given a notice that there last day is weeks or months away. I do know from the cuts that I'm aware of that they were based on function and product, not across the board like some have suggested. I'm sure some of it was also based on mid year rankings, which are being given out at this time.

Everyone who knows BRCM is aware of the fact that BRCM is ALWAYS looking to lay off people. It will never ever make a pledge to not lay-off. If you hear that they have pledged to never lay-off then it’s some sort of trap they have set up for gullible employees. Read more about Hock Tan to find out the beast you are dealing with.

There have already been layoffs. All they need to say is the layoffs were already planned. Saying there will be no COVID-19 related layoffs is in my opinion useless. Only statements saying there will be no layoffs of any kind while the shelter in place orders are active actually mean anything. Even then there are other ways to get rid of people.
