Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

How are things at Enbridge?

I left two years ago because I couldn't take the toxicity and had to play politics instead of being able to do my work. It was affecting my mental health and I decided to walk away. My new job is not perfect but it's certainly better than when I worked there. Have things changed since then? Has anything improved? I hate to think of my old coworkers still having to deal with that mess.

Go work there for a few years and then see if you have the same opinion.

Me a high performing SCADA Engineer; after 12 years - let go with very short notice. Me and others at Enbridge Centre, Edmonton. Happened mid-September.
EFFING toxic workplace; ALL DEI. 60-70% are from India too.
EFF THEM. That boat is going to sink - I know it, I was training two of them to take over the middleware. Incompetent fux.

For people who say the work culture at Enbridge is toxic, would you mind sharing your geographic location and group? I'm in Projects in Houston and I generally enjoy my work, except when I have to deal with SCM. I put my hard hat on when I'm on calls with them to protect my skull from the multiple wall collisions...

Enbridge work culture gave me extreme PTSD. Now I get to spend my money on therapy. Joining this rat race of a company was the worst decision of my career.

Still horrible , if your outside u and have a clueless people leader you will suffer

Getting ahead you have to brown nose and be in the “tribe”

If you are in the “ tribe” all the good things will come you way. Regardless of performance. You will be Made to look good to

What a silly post. Go to a site explicitly designed for attracting angry people who feel jilted and take the temperature.

Just be honest about your pandering. You want a pat on the back and to feel some camaraderie. That's fine. While you're at it, walk into a bakery and ask them if they still bake the best cookies ever.

Things are awful here. No one is happy (except executives) and it seems like every month they do something stupid to pi-s people off more. I wish I could leave and go work somewhere else, but the pay is too good for the time being. There are no career options to move up. This is a job, not a career move. Get in, get experience, and get out as soon as you can.

I left the company before I was let go, why would anyone take the risk of being let go? I have a new awesome company making better in everything then what Enbridge game me! And the most important thing is that I have my happiness and health back.... Money cannot buy that for you, you live only one and now I am living live again, lost weight, happy, healthy and living again.

I would say things are worse now than 2 years ago.
I hold the opinion that this toxicity is designed to make people quit so they can save on severance pay.
My advice to employees with little time in the company to find something else if you can and do the bare minimum until you do.
My advice to longer term employees is NOT to fall into the quit trap that has been set for you. Just hang in there and wait for a voluntary or non voluntary severance.
