Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Is there any rehiring for the latest RIF? Any idea for the scale of rehiring or the timeframe?

"If your skills are highly sought after"

Working in Embedded is a graveyard. Once laid off, there just handful of companies to look for, no matter how smart one is. It gets worse if you are 10+ years into your career as pivoting is not easy.

If you think you are cut above the rest or "have the right skills" working in embedded tech, god bless you.

Latest RIF just got a refreshed date with about 200 people being told to look for new jobs.

@5tok+1qw83KkO If your skills are highly sought after and you are willing to relocate to California, what makes you want to wait to apply to Qualcomm again? Why not consider all options including other companies?

You want to work for Q long term? Move to India. If hired in US consider it as a short stop before the next layoff. Geoshift is name of the game.

Why going back to a place that obviously didn't want you in the first place? Opportunities are limited, but going back is not going to be easier than the first time

Feels like job postings being kept open for H1 hiring. The cycle continues

They are hoping to rehire new engineers that don't realize they will be sacrificed.
Bring in some new disposable heroes!... Yeah!

Oh yea. My old job has been open for many many months now. F 'em. They think they can keep scr3wing engineers over and that there is an endless supply of us. Nope. Not the good ones. Q deserves what they get.

There is a job opening notice on the website for several positions where people were let go in San Diego in October.

I was in the May RIF. They said it would be at least a year before rehire was even possible, so that would be summer of 2024. But I'm not holding my breath.
