Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Coffee?!?

With all this in office talk I find it absolutely crazy in corporate America that there is no coffee or tea in the break rooms. Departments can order it on Ariba but no one will and no one wants it coming out of their cost center. Are they trying to get people to quit?

Post ID: @5sya+1v8El8OG: good point. And they should pay for the water I use when getting ready for work, because if I didn’t have to go in I wouldn’t shower. In fact, this job is the only reason I own work clothes, so a wardrobe stipend is warranted. Electricity? Wi-fi? If you know peers are making 2.5x your income, does that not raise a question in your mind about the job you’re in? Honest suggestion: you have an opportunity to truly lead yourself. I’m guessing this job seemed pretty good to you at some point; if it’s no longer the case, I get it. I do hope things turn around, either the bank changes or you can find a better gig. Truist went off the rails, no doubt. But make reasonable arguments and be heard rather than silly demands for electricity, wi-fi, and a birthday cake.

Me! I make right at $60k and that was after a “massive” raise to show how much they cared about me after selling my soul for stats all year

If you manage a branch getting $48k you have issues. I don’t know many making less than $70k

Post ID: @2ioz+1v8El8OG Is clearly a corporate troll. The company doesn’t pay front line management in our salary for incidentals to reward our teams. I manage a branch and my salary is 48k and peers at other banks are paid 120k. You think I’m pulling from my 48k to buy a worker lunch, you’re not thinking straight. And you also posted about how retail employees should pay for WiFi at home, that’s unethical. Their workspace is at the branch but yet leadership is telling us to buy WiFi at home too out of our 48k. Then people wonder why surveys are blown up and turnover is through the roof and average tenure has gone out the window.

Find an employer with free coffee - I would ask that as your first question on your interview then move to can you work from home

No, not “first response”. Response about electricity and personal expense. Understand the sequencing.

First response, not OP

Sounds like OP is either a manager or a producing manager. I agree the bank has gone too far with expense cuts, but you ARE paid for birthday cakes and lunches and incidentals for your team. It’s called your salary. This is what leaders do. These posts are so tiresome…. “I wanna work from home, but they won’t pay for my WiFi. I don’t wanna pay for gas/parking/tolls/aggravation. I wanna be able to see my kids play soccer”. Stipend for electricity??? All the legit gripes and then decimate the argument on allocating electricity usage?
How much are you saving by not commuting, parking, buying lunch, having to pay retail prices for coffee (the horror!), vehicle wear and tear, etc? Now deduct the cost of a few cakes and snacks to show your team you appreciate them and the odd lunch. My guess is you’re break even at worst. C’mon, man. You can do better.

They tell me to work with my laptop at home but I have no company paid WiFi, no company stipend for electricity or office space at home. I’m a retail employee. They also tell me to go on Amazon and buy my own laptop case for my work laptop. They also tell me to pay for a data plan on my cellphone so I can use it for company purposes also by tethering to the company laptop. They also tell me to set IRM days and pay for snacks and beverages out of my pocket. They also tell me to pay for my teammates birthdays with buying them cakes from my own money. They also tell me to buy my new teammates lunch on their first day but use my own money. They also tell me to drive to visit businesses but not to log miles unless I’m getting sales booked on the trip, which is impossible because it takes prospecting and some other trips sometimes unpaid. They also tell me to pay for end of year party for my team out of my own money. They also tell me to set informational meetings after work for customers in the bank about mortgages on my own time and tell me to buy snacks for the clients and also beverages out of my own money. I go to leadership meetings where I have to travel 3 hours round trip and they tell me to bring lunch money because I’m not able to leave for lunch, we eat during meeting and pay attention because they don’t trust us to talk freely amongst each other and don’t want us taking our break. We also don’t have waters at our facilities or coffee. I worked at other banks and I’ve never seen any of this. Including the ethics are out the window at this bank. It’s purely insane, like living in hades for minimum wage.

Cost savings went too far when you stopped treating people, like people. The small things add up to a lot of aggravation. This need to pack up the whole house just to go to work, hope there is a work space (with working components) and deal with discourteous people who think everything should be on speaker is getting to be ridiculous.

Unfortunately it’s a cost savings measure. Plus the upkeep of the machines is costly because folks won’t take care of things. We have coffee machines and people bring their own pods.

Welcome to Truist. Nothing provided. Even in ccb they had no laptop or anything for me for a week+ after I was hired. Then the systems took weeks to set up. Oh and I had to wait months for that “purple care pack to show up. Mess.

Lol I’ve worked at a regional hq for the past two and a half years and even at a ‘nice’ building like that NOTHING was provided. Wild compared to prior banks I’ve worked out.

It’s not just coffee, it is bring your own pens and pads of paper. Before you know it, they are going to expect us to bring your own toilet paper.

It may seem like a small thing but it’s a great indicator of how Truist has not taken even the smallest steps to run like a competent company.
