Only Leena is left from the "Office of the CEO". CFO, Controller and VP of Finance gone. Real Estate Director gone. Stateside IT gone. Leasing Director gone. Pretty much everyone with any knowledge about Sears/Kmart operations and future plans is gone/replaced, where each of them was doing the job of five people who left and had about half an hour to transfer their knowledge. Home Services and Kmart are sale on sale. It's going to be Guam, an ancient fleet of delivery and repair guys, and a whole heap of depreciated real estate no one wants.

Final winddown of what exactly? OP did not specify. Could be the final winddown of brown paper in the washroom or mouse traps in the stock room. Still does not mean shutdown of a company or store closures.
He didn't just write "any Winddown". He specifically write "FINAL WINDDOWN", as in the last one. A "Daily" Winddown would not be a FINAL WINDDOWN. He claimed a FINAL WINDDOWN and no such thing happened. So OP was wrong.
Wind it down means to wrap things up, whether for the day or permanently.
When we were working on a task at work, such as a planogram and it would be approaching the end of the work day, our boss would often say "Okay, lets wind things down for the day and press onward in the morning."
@2ehb Closing means closing, winding down means winding down. My '69 Shelby is equipped with a turbocharger. I step on the gas, turbocharger winds up. I let off the gas, turbocharger winds down (but does not turn off completely). Even if certain things are "winding down" under the Transform retail umbrella, that does not mean complete closure of any stores.
It's amazing how many people attributed to genius over the years that which could be obviously explained by Lampert's world class incompetence.
It says a lot about ESL that everyone has pretty much thrown in the towel on him and the people who used to report directly to him have so many unkind things to say afterwards.
