Your words sound so naive in today's reality about the Capitalism system as entirely separate from the government. It never was detached, and it can't be apriori. A pure state ruled by only the government and executive power can't exist unless it is some communist society where the government power belongs only to the masses or people. And that's only in theory. Capitalists reach a certain point or specific level when money is not the primary goal. From that moment, money is just an instrument to achieve the main goal - power. So this further will go way beyond the initial intention or purpose.
Or previous presidents of the United States who thought only the Federal rules the country or at least should have, they never ended well, no need to bring examples.
Do you still think the Senate, House of Representatives, and President are the only ones who govern the United States because you and I elected them?
Indeed freedom and law supremacy in the USA exist. Still, only within-permitted bounds for the mass society - as soon you cross the way or interest of someone "bigger" than you, for some things uncommon for a regular person like you, you will be in big trouble.

Here we see people misinformed about the root cause of the problem. Incorrectly blaming on capitalism. A real capitalist system should have the government totally separate from lobbyists and corporate. Monopolies should have not been allowed if the government were not corrupted. We would not be in this situation if capitalism was applied.

Capitalism is in an existential crisis now and needs a change. Because it reached a critical point. Critical points like that happened in the past for capitalism that always ended with major conflicts like wars when a "system reset" happens and normalizes when there are new markets to sell.
Don't be confused with the market economy term, it's not the same. The market economy existed before capitalism and the market economy is something good and normal. Capitalism started in the 16th century in England and then continued in Great Britain. And it was always tied to different groups or different clan interests, power, and secret/intelligent services. They all worked together. Even go further beyond just a normal form of government.
Capitalism always relied upon that there are other underdeveloped parts of the world, otherwise it doesn't work as a formula.

Government is by the people, for the people, and of the people. Capitalism and Communism are economical extremes. There needs to be strike in balance. Unfortunately, the modern day Capitalism is governed by rich, while their counterpart is governed by Autocracies. People are governed/enslaved by money or power. It is supposed to be otherwise.
