Does anyone know how USAA goes about identifying who to layoff? Is it LIFO? Performance based? Something else? I'd like to get an understanding of how at risk I'll be in 2024.

In ECIO, entire teams go including those brilliant and really smart ones. When she marks the team off, poof, gone. Some teams got reduced by eliminating the most expensive ones from what I've observed. At the end of the day, it's mostly the value that each emp delivers to the member, that becomes the basis of the yay or nay.
It was based on performance stack ranking for my team. I had direct input into the discussion. It is not a standardized process across the company. You get number needed and figure out the best way to get there.
Last year saw its first round January 24th.
its mostly about your total comp vs value of your role. The people that directly manage you will have zero input on it.
There will be another round of massive layoffs sometime in Q1, if it’s like last year, it’ll be in March.
It’s those that fail to fall in line. Those that ask questions, challenge the status quo. Wayne Peacock and other leaders are like Jim Jones doling out the koolaid.
Can be based upon anything as determined by business or management. Entire teams can be cut. If headcount is being reduced by a little, it’s normally based upon performance. But if your boss doesn’t like you, prepare to be cut.
It’s a “reduction of certain roles.” And you’ll be told it isn’t personal and has nothing to do with your performance. They are just “eliminating certain roles” &/or reducing the number of people on those roles. Notice the age group that’s being removed (a lot of Gen X). It’s crazy. The best thing about the company use to be its loyalty to its employees. Not so much any more. Now they want to be like all the other companies… and I don’t know why a company would want to go from being a star company to being just like everyone else. They’ve lost a lot of very talented people.
From what I have seen, it is largely random. I saw people with 20+ years get let go and people with under 5 stay. Some were high performers and still dropped whereas some slackers still had their job. If you are the type going against the "kool-aid," you are at risk.
