Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Stock still in the $2.00 range.

The Sr. Leadership at this company is a complete failure and an embarrassment not only in the industry but to executive leadership period. I seriously question how these people have managed to sustain a career and have absolutely no leadership skills or critical thinking skills.

I left that pathetic excuse of a company coming up on 5 years ago but still have good friends that work there so I am able to somewhat keep up on what is happening. I just recently learned of a survey that was sent out to “random” employees to get an idea if this is a Great Place to Work? What a fu@king joke! Turns out the survey was mostly questions about management and that’s the funniest $hit yet! The Managment at that company as everyone in the industry knows is a heaping pile of $hit. No one in corporate leadership has anything they can point to as a success. Not a single thing! Altice is where incompetent executives go when they are looking for a severance package to retire on. It’s a revolving door of VPs Sr VPs and so on. Not a one of them give two $hits about the company, the customers and damn sure not the employees.

Yes, I did say reliable…and meant it. What it means is that regardless of how many subscribers/customers are lost or gained, a public company is required to disclose that and other pertinent financial information on a regular basis. From that readily available data including other outstanding debts and loans, lending institutions can determine the ability of the borrower to service the debt.

Just FYI…The debt load IS enormous and DOES threaten the solvency of the business, but maybe not quite as much as some might think. Investment and financial organizations including banks love to lend to businesses like cable companies and utilities for the simple reason that they all have ideal cash flows that are reliable and maybe more important, predictable-customers paying monthly to keep the lights on or the internet and TVs streaming. It’s not without limits but they’ve always carried more debt than most other types of businesses. This is reasons that cable companies were historically able to secure the major financing needed for expanding into digital, internet, phone, high def, etc. Even under the Dolans, CV carried enormous debt…granted not to the extent it is now.

Its a distressed company...heading to bankruptcy. Too much debt, declining revenues and subscribers, increasing competition, investigations, constant reorganizations,......, it will be broken into pieces with a bankruptcy judge's approval.....

I believe Post ID: @5gbf+1tiufmxG is pretty spot on. When this bunch showed up at Suddenlink in 2015 you could immediately see they had a completely different agenda for SL and ultimately Cablevision. You have to remember, the people in the ivory towers in NY are not cable/telcom people, they don’t know the first thing about the nuts and bolts of the business. They all come from a finance background and they are really not even very good at that. The company isn’t going into bankruptcy yet but it is definitely headed that direction because the people making decisions in NY really are not very good at their job and their egos will never allow them to see that. The root of the problem starts at the top of the empire with PD. I’ve never met the man but from the interviews I have read and seen on him he is a very thin skinned person with a massive ego and he hires like minded individuals to run his companies. Thus the constant dumpster fire.

Some comments here based on misinformation. Yeah, the leadership of the company has sc--wed things up royally and IMHO ruined the business. But, their agenda for the business was never what “ours” was/is. The intention right from the get go was to strip it down. Please, they’re not in bankruptcy territory, at least not yet. There are bits and pieces of the company that can be sold-that’ll happen first. Why anyone working here would ever consider buying stock at any price is beyond me but hey, it’s your money. You don’t need to wait for the price to go lower into penny territory. The only reason it’s not any lower already is “traders” buying and selling at this current level. For the past 6 months it’s floated between 2.10 and 2.90, the current average analysts target price is 2.30. Plenty of percentage swing here for potential profit…but, get someone with trading experience to assist you. I still think it’s a foolish idea. Put your money in a solid S&P fund or ETF…and forget about it until you retire. That’s what Buffet would tell you. Good luck.
