Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Ikea and being enamoured...

How many have seen you seen the social feeds regarding the exciting things others are doing in analytics?

While all this goes on, we keep playing in the toddler's pool. We'd rather focus on diversity (which is important, but should be innate, not a primary focus); we keep engaging consultants to tell us what to do (is it really that hard?) and we keep doing RIFs (saying goodbye to really skilled people) just to make our financials look good.

It really is pathetic and if it was an assessment, I think TD deserves a C- and a B+ at best.

Does anyone remember the success story around Ikea, has anyone done a bit of digging to see what the current status is? Do. It's pretty reflective of the bigger picture...

Ikea story is even juicer and shows true side of wicked place it really is. The project was initially implemented with open source prophet package and was nut running on any MLE at all. This was naturally hidden and customer was pushed to buy MLE for the next iteration. Broken piece of old Aster technology resurrected for Tesla AI stunts by "Visionary CEO".

Don't understand what passes for "diversity" now days. Maybe I'm just too old or too pragmatic. The company TD spun off from (Quotron/TTI) was dedicated to diversity, but not the kind based on skin color, se-ual orientation and such. They sought out individuals with unique life experiences who could thus articulate from unique perspectives. So we had former test pilots, professional musicians, athletes, professors of antiquities and more. This made the team and thus the company much better. The other sort of diversity so much in presence today took care of itself.

There was nothing homophobic about the comment @5emm+1bR9oUia. Your reading comprehension skills are awful. But I guess you don't need to be good at that to be on the management fast track at Teradata. Hope it works out for you.

Post your homophobic comments elsewhere @5emm+1bR9oUia. They have no place here.

To be fair, the OR/RP clown show was responsible for the MLE disaster.

MLE - what a joke. It took them 3 years to figure out they did not work and they have no answer. HA is clueless and SM does not know what he doesn’t know.

The "Leadership" focuses on diversity (se-ual preference) because it's easy and a skill they can transfer to another company for their next gig. It's much easier than learning what Teradata is all about.

The customer bought MLE in Azure which was buggy to the extent of not working at all. Then MLE was scrapped and customer was not too enthusiastic about SQL engine. Covid was the perfect excuse to discontinue projects and business relationship.

Who are you going to ask ?

The people that were involved in selling it IKEA have all left…..as have IKEA, who no longer use Teradata and haven’t for some time.

You say diversity is important but remember that Teradata went from nothing to greatness at a time where diversity wasn't being cramed down everyone's throats. Back then people didn't care about your s-x or skin color because you were good at what you did and others could rely on you to get the job done.
