Was that guidance given to managers company-wide? In the company-wide today, Betsy made it sound like Product & Engineering will have a different PEP program from other core business functions

Thank you. @5osw+1n8YuohV

That’s very interesting. I didn’t get that last year. Not looking forward to this year then.

Look at the data for India for the past year

https://www.forbes.com/advisor/in/personal-finance/inflation-rate-in-india/

And come up with a number.

Amazing how people are upset at different PEP % raises across Geos when it has ALWAYS been this way. Always.

How much did China get?

Both US and India inflation rate is hovering around 5%
Indian employees got 8% (more than the cost of living index ) and US folks got 3% (way less than the index in most places that VMware’s offices are)

DEI team, what were you doing when this was decided? Did you forget that most of the folks in US vmw offices are also from India?

If you are asking if it is time to leave then do it this week. Do it now. Then my manager can spread your % to the rest of the team

THIS! Being a manager, I'd rather you just give notice now. Or at least tell me that you plan on giving notice. Our job is to make as many people happy as we can. If you are already going to leave, it benefits your team to take the raise that would go to you and spread it to your coworkers. You won't use it.

This is great now for promos too. If I have two people in mind, I'd rather give it to someone who will be here in two months.

Your 3% is equal to 200% in INR so chill buddy.

Please take math again buddy. If 3% is equal to 200% in INR, then the 8% raise India is getting is equal to 533% in INR.

Can't do basic math. THIS is the kind of Indian geniuses this company hires. LOL.

Can anyone confirm what the pep % guidance was last year for managers? For these countries.

Regardless of the cost of standard of living, the difference of % between regions should be more transparent to all employees to avoid the impression of unfairness.

Or could it be that the attrition in India is bigger than in other regions since the acquisition announcement so a higher increase acts as an incentive to try to retain them ?

Remember these Indian staff are full time employees of VMware, and many of them whom I have been working with are highly talented, unlike Indian consulting companies that other US companies work with which usually are not necessarily of less talent but usually have less uniformed talent pool.

I'm not OP, but this was announced in the Manager's PEP meeting today. I don't know why the rush to post here when so much information is still arriving.

This across the board or specific area's?

I agree payrises are not guaranteed in every company or role. One of the selling points of VMware was good annual payrises. If this is no longer the case, then i suspect talent will leave.

We're all taking a pay cut after inflation for the 2nd year in a row. If you can land a better salary, it's definitely time to go.

Have to say that when I joined the company I came from outside a tier 1 vendor and we would have to fight for a raise and likely not get one.

I arrive and without any discussion with my manager, in my first year I received a pay increase.

Have to say, we who are fortunate to have jobs in the IT industry are really privileged so my response to the negativity on a 3 % increase is be grateful and not be entitled! You could be a teacher, a nurse, a firefighter or a in the armed forces.

Leave, who is stopping you. Bear in mind the number of companies out there who haven't given pay rises or a full years bonus in April or will give H1 bonus in September along with all other benefits but yes... Leave, just make sure you have taken all your epic and take a break days first cause you probably won't get them in other places... Best of luck!
