Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

What's your guess?

Well we know every Jan/Feb comes lots of changes. Position changes, new positions that take on the responsibilities of eliminated positions, layoffs. I know they are busy working behind the scenes...but what's the plan? Have you heard anything? And will the usual notices go out in Jan or Feb? We all know it's coming! Thoughts?

There won't be a Pulse survey in January as the company plans to wait until after the organizational changes and related downsizing before implementing the survey in 2025, just like last year. We don't want the people impacted by the changes to have an opportunity to take the survey, as it's unlikely they would be too positive about the company direction since they won't have a seat on the bus to where Macy's is heading in 2025. You know who else won't get to take the survey, the people in the 65 closing stores, we aren't interested in their opinions either. I guess we call it the Pulse Survey since you need a career with a pulse to take it.

The Macy's Small Format stores only have two managers, a combo SMM and OOM and a combo CXM and MBA and they are successful. I'm hearing the company will be moving forward with this staffing model in 2025 for all stores that do less than $13M in annual volume. There will be added hourly captains related to the new hospitality culture model. If you are in a SMM/OOM/CXM/MBA position in a store that does less than $13M, you will be facing the hunger games again this year.

Macys is not what it used to be unfortunately. This Holiday Season definitely shows that as I see lower volume across the board as a vendor. A lot of Associates are not sure what is coming in January. Have to see what happens and which stores are closing. Hopefully the locations in my state are not impacted as much this go round.

As a customer (and former investor), I’ve never seen Macy’s this bad. It appears as though no one in leadership has any interest in ensuring stores are well stocked and ready to sell to loyal customers. The stores I’ve been inside are a cluttered mess and online sales are bad too. I’ve mistakenly and regretfully bought from the third party sellers on Macys.com, only to learn the truth when I tried to return the defective product, but was told I had to go stand in a very long line in the even more cluttered basement. I’m especially sorry for every employee who gets stuck in the basement. Is Corporate selling off real estate just to raise enough capital to keep the doors open until they can find a buyer? Is that why no one cares? Sad.
