@2a8 really depends on how our new Chief Strategy Officer and our Sales team respond. There’s some optimism for LM taking the reins. Our salespeople are doofuses of course.

I@5cw awesome summary thanks! Do you think IQVIA/Veeva are interested in hiring Medidata talent?

@2a8 For 8 years IQVIA and Veeva were locked in an epic legal battle. IQVIA accused Veeva of basically stealing their data to build better products. Veeva fired back, claiming IQVIA was using their monopoly power to crush competition. Lawyers were getting rich, executives were probably losing sleep, and everyone in the industry was picking sides.

Just recently in August 2025, something nobody saw coming happened. Instead of one company destroying the other in court, they shook hands and said “Let’s be friends instead.”

IQVIA brings the muscle - they run clinical trials for nearly every major dr-g company and have mountains of healthcare data. Veeva brings the brains - sleek cloud software that pharma companies use to manage everything from sales to research. Before this partnership, if you were a dr-g company, you had to choose: work with IQVIA’s powerful services OR use Veeva’s elegant software, but not both together seamlessly. Now? It’s like getting Netflix AND Disney+ in one subscription, but for billion-dollar dr-g development.

Medidata has been the king of clinical trial software for years - powering about 72% of FDA dr-g approvals. Now Medidata faces a Voltron-level mega-competitor. It’s like being a successful local restaurant and suddenly McDonald’s and Taco Bell merge into one super-chain across the street. For any of us working at Medidata or similar companies, the game just changed overnight. Expect acquisitions, partnerships, or major pivots as everyone scrambles to keep up with the new pharma tech superpower. The moral of the story? Sometimes your biggest enemy becomes your most dangerous ally.

Any news on how many people affected overall in the US, APAC and EMEA ?

@1nz not to mention if you disagree with your manager, you’re put on a list. This comes down from leadership - they don’t want employees who question decisions or push back on anything. The message is clear: comply or you’re out. Some people are fine with this approach and have no problem just following orders without question. But if that’s not how you operate, don’t try to force yourself to fit that mold. It’s not sustainable and will wear you down. If you’re someone who values being able to voice concerns or contribute different perspectives, start planning your exit now. Don’t wait until you’re on that list or until the environment becomes completely toxic for you. Have a strategy and work toward it.

Layoffs are hard on everyone. People leaving are facing big changes, and those still employed are left with uncertainty and mixed emotions. Staying connected in respectful ways can help everyone process what’s happening.

Hoping for good things ahead for everyone involved. What can carry people through moments like this is empathy and respect for each other.

@27b I don’t think it’s about people being there 15+ years. It’s about attitude. I’ve never seen so much complacency in one place, like tech doesn't move. All it takes is one innovation , AI anyone and you're wreck . All those years neglecting investment in infrastructure. No matter how you paint the house, it won’t stand if the foundation is unstable and the doors are falling off. I do feel sorry for the customers. A collection of problems 1X or not .

As a business layperson can someone provide detail on the significance of this recent IQVIA/Veeva partnership and what impact this will have on Medidata?

@ac you should prepare for broad layoffs in all geographic sectors. The repositioning as “experiences “is a a loud signal that if you aren’t involved in AI/MLL/ETL directly you are on borrowed time. Be wise, be self protective and get out while you still have control over the timing of your exit

@1nz Medidata leadership has been weak and self-serving since Glen passed away. Bringing Lisa Moneymaker back is the smartest thing that’s happened since the Dassault acquisition, but it will take her time to build her team and turn things around. Best thing that can happen is to get rid of the ancient deadweight employees who have been there 15+ years. They do not know current or best practices, or how anyone else does things – to their extreme detriment. The company has been run for a very long time by people who are not viable anywhere else.
Also - consumer beware – the “1X” UI/functional updates that have been 3+ years in the making will be disastrously under-performing and absent of true UX or any other improvements; it’s a remnant of and testament to the ineptness of in-place management.
Anyway, Dassualt didn’t buy the company for the software, what they wanted is the data that they can use to start modeling human biology the way their other tools model the design and behavior of nonliving complex systems - the ‘ virtual twin’.

@1mf There’s no security. Layoffs dressed in AI buzzwords may please shareholders but destabilize the workforce. Stifling risk-taking, fueling politics, eroding trust, and driving attrition. This year I’ve seen more committee calls for decisions one person used to make. It’s sad. This is the second layoff this year, after similar cuts last year and the year before, there's clearly a product problem. Rave still bringing in 70% income but how many products are there. Execution is so poor you wonder WTF. Stay if you have good colleagues, no one throwing you under the bus , but if it’s like Lord of the Flies, it will only get worse.

Any more updates on possible layoffs? My boss’s boss is leaving Medidata this week (unsure if it was a resignation or a layoff). I work in the APAC sector and the town hall really didn’t give us hope for security. I wonder what’s to come.

Just over £2,000 above your statutory entitlement. Does that sound correct ? What else are others getting? When I experienced this at a different american company they offered 10 to 20K but that was voluntary redundancy.

@d1 what does that severance look like in EMEA?

Looking to compare to other regions, such as the one I work in.

Yes, I was impacted as part of the EMEA cuts. I only received the statutory minimum as severance, which feels low given I have over 5 years of experience. I was also sidelined by my core team for months, often left out of key meetings. Didn’t have a great relationship with my manager. Had some gaslighting experiences this year. A stupid increase in workload, so it wasn’t entirely a surprise. One thing I appreciated over the last few months was the other team I worked with; they were a breath of fresh air. But you know it's all about survival. Good luck to those affected.

@bm haven’t heard anything. Rumors or not, start applying to places ASAP. Remember, there were no rumors at the time when the layoffs last week happened.

There's no reason not to assume more cuts are on the way in due time. If you're still employed with Medidata and read Anthony's e-mail after the separations, he talks about Medidata 'being in the midst' of an AI transformation and 'phases' of growth. Things will get worse before they get better.

Think we're sat waiting on EMEA and APAC

Does anyone know of anyone let go from those regions? I think a lot of people are anxiously waiting
