Thread regarding Cencora / AmerisourceBergen layoffs

August 2025 Bloodbath #2?

Hearing lots of chatter about a major restructuring in August. There are been many quiet layoffs and "people let go" recently as well. The leadership lost a lot trust during that last round of layoffs. Another one, especially while the organization is considered successful, would put Cencora well within the realm of a toxic workplace that should be avoided.

We are currently in November and the layoffs in the team I work in started in May 2025, then another set of layoffs in either Sept/Oct and not they're saying bonuses won't come until mid December 🤔 last year it was gone in November

So, I work with one of Cencora’s international BUs. Yes there has been a bloodbath here although admittedly some of it needed to happen (old timers not wanting to change, complacent legacy senior management who were swept out under a new President). We lost a swathe of people in Customer Services and Operations in Europe and the USA. My boss was fired in August. I just found out that a couple of project office people had gone. Some of these positions are already going to Lithuania and south of the border. In the meantime the SVPs are still living large. Surprise surprise.

@74z August layoffs appear to me mostly in the back office and Cencora continues to move all IT, Accounting, and back order tasks to the CBS units overseas (Lithuania, Costa Rica, Prune). I got caught in that one because I had the lowest severance package (3 years as opposed to 10 years next manager up).

Looks like they are restructuring our dev team so that the next round of layoffs will move all but our BA/PM roles to Prune India (though word is after 3 months the team there has yet to provide one deliverable and rarely attends morning standup/hand-off meetings, whole thing reek of kickbacks).

I was told by a co-worker that was in a meeting today were some VP basically came out and said don't expect everyone here to be at future meeting as there was a major organizational restructuring plan laid out to leadership the day before and that many on the invite list may "not be available" in the future.

First of all, who says something like that in what I was told was a large meeting that included external representatives. Second, I can only assume the "not be available" means no longer employed.

@517 I agree w/ this. I feel like lately they have been trying to find anything to find to fire people instead of lay them off. I keep having to push back on things them trying to say I did something wrong when it wasn't even wrong or I didn't do it.

I was one of the few that got laid off, they blamed it on behavior issues when in fact there was none. The managers are toxic and work against you in any way that they can. There’s several open cases against them regarding thisZ

@4x7 that would not be a good thing right now. Job market is really tough. I've heard taking around 8 months for unemployed to land new jobs.

Be thankful if you get let go. That place is a terrible and toxic place to work. People just hire their friends to do jobs they never did before.

Yes, it's coming... They are giving weekly "updates" but aren't telling anything of any real substance other than the program is ending in September.

They did send out a FAQ on severance to just read over to "just so you know".

Layoff is expected for Case Managers to be completed by the end of September with some being released each week until that date.
Contract was lost for major dr-g is reason for layoffs.
Lack of Upper Management Skills is evident.
