Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Quality

Very important issues are swept under the carpet here. For example - quality. Declining quality is sure to have a significant negative impact on the company. However, does quality really matter here anymore? Anyone actually worried about the quality getting worse?

Problem is this company does not give a xxxx if quality or performance is poor. It’s a good way to go into terminal decline.

Quality is the end result of a business that is run well from the top down . It also requires constant monitoring, investment and excellent training. I love my job in manufacturing but hate BH culture of Shareholders first, customer second and profit before people.
Reading corporate propaganda makes me sick.
This is why we have poor quality

My facility gave up on Quality a few years ago. They cut the quality team in half and expanded the warranty team. Corners are cut constantly, processes aren't followed. Just get it out the door! It's officially now just a job. Management is busy trying to fight fires. As long as I stay here, I'll do my job to the best of my ability and let the small stuff roll off my back. Sucks when you had high hopes and they got squashed.

Team is, products aren’t.
Too much pain to our suppliers to make anything work.

If you do not pay your suppliers on time (or at all), top grade suppliers of goods and raw materials will not supply you. Just because you graduated from GE Crotonville Leadership development believing it was ethical to drag out the date you actually paid suppliers does not make you Warren Buffett or a captain of industry in any shape or form. What it means is you are forced to approach third or fourth ranked suppliers to produce your products, because higher echelon suppliers will not deal with you because your business ethics are set so low. I know you know this, I just hope your customers understand how you operate your business too.

Quality along with safety only matters when management is in their little daily meetings. As soon as the meeting is over it’s forgotten.

Anyone that prioritizes quality over profit is no longer a good fit at BH, and needs to be replaced.

Bending the rules or looking the other way is now king.
