Next year: 5 days a week/10 hour days

The cleaning staff will be exhausted. We will run out of toilet paper in 2 days.

Stellantis designers were told they must work 5 days in-office starting March 3.
I wonder if GM managers feel the pressure of being a "performance company" enough that they feel compelled to make a similar announcement.

It's not a matter of 'if', but a matter of 'when'.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is preparing to order staffers to return to the office five days a week — becoming the latest major bank to ki-l its hybrid work policy, according to a report. The bank — the largest in the US with more than 300,000 employees worldwide — is expected to announce the change in the next few weeks, according to Bloomberg, which cited people familiar with the matter. JPMorgan declined to comment (!).

Anyone else feel like this is inevitable for GM employees?
I've been seeing all of these posts on linkedin where people have been unemployed for 6-14 months with no prospects. The employers are holding all of the cards now.

“The laptop class is living in La La Land. Look at the cars (referring to a production line). Are people working from home here? Of course not. People who are building cars, servicing the cars, building houses, fixing houses, making the food, making all the things that people consume. It's messed up to assume that yes, they have to go to work, but you don't. That's not just a productivity thing, I think it's morally wrong.” ~ Elon Musk, May 16, 2023

Elon Musk lost his bid to have his $56 billion 2018 pay package reinstated.
A Delaware judge upheld her January ruling in a case brought by shareholders that said the process leading to approval of the pay package was “deeply flawed.”

You have to love when scrooge lectures others about morality. Elon is a fraud living off of share price manipulation and government handouts. If you think he is smart, drag his butt out and give him an all day interview consisting of numerous math, physics, and computer science questions. You will find out quickly he is no Tony Stark.

I can’t wait to see bathroom wall art and ur--e soaked carpet near the bathroom entrances.

I just brought my own toilet paper last time when GM began in office 2-3/week.

The on campus restaurants are probably going to raise their prices like 1000 %, and their lines are probably going to be twice the size of the bathroom waiting lines.

Again, parking will be extinct as the dinosaur.

GM will encourage its employees to carpool & start work at 5am.

Announcing "WorkWeek Revival": Bringing the traditional workweek back to life with
a renewed focus on collaboration, teamwork, and in-person interactions.

To ensure compliance, the following guidelines will be followed:

  1. Absence tracking: Badge data can help companies identify employees who

frequently miss work or show up late. Persistent absenteeism could lead to
disciplinary action, including dismissal, if other factors are also
considered.

  1. Performance evaluation: Computer activity data can provide insights

into an employee's productivity levels and the quality of their work. For
instance, data on email communication, document creation, or time spent on
specific tasks can help managers evaluate performance effectively.

  1. Compliance monitoring: Companies may monitor computer and badge data to

ensure employees adhere to policies such as acceptable use of company
resources, data security protocols, or time-off regulations. Violations of
these policies could lead to disciplinary action if appropriate notice and
due process are provided.

  1. Security concerns: If there are suspicious activities detected through

computer activity monitoring (such as unauthorized access attempts or data
breaches), the corporation might take appropriate actions, including
investigations and termination in severe cases.

2025 will be the year Americans go back to work. Not because they want to but because they are forced to. They have zero leverage in this job market, and inflation keeps rising. Even the retired may be forced to return to work. If they are living on dividends, the stock market reached peak and is head down fast.

There are changes occurring that are obvious to everyone that few dare to speak about.
I'll just leave this here.

"The people not working will be exposed."

I hate to break it to you, but the people who aren't working now weren't working before the pandemic either.

In a way, WFH is better because it takes away the social aspects used by such people to cover their lack of work, and I'm saying this as a very social person.

Well, judging by the GM stock chart, some serious sh*t is about to go down. I don't claim to know what their internals will do, but I can read a chart.

Price is about to take a plunge. Interpret that how you will, whether they force you into the office, or don't care you come in. Either way, price is going FU down. Like Stellantis did, losing 50% in two quarters, Ford did, and well, someone has to go last.

Isn't it great? Let's get this recession party started. Some of use are betting on the decline. Stair step higher is slow, but that elevator down, makes money.

Good luck with your jobs folks.

Looking forward to it.
It will definitely weed out the week.

  1. People not showing up will be fired.
  2. The people not working will be exposed.
  3. It will definitely illuminate the danger of getting let go as people disappear.
  4. The job market is horrific. People will have to obey or face the consequences of joblessness in a high debt, high inflation, high interest rate environment.
  5. The boomers dialing it in with 20-40 years @GM will finally feel pressured to retire, creating opportunities.

It's time.
Let's do it!
