Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

CEO Missing In Action

Stagnant (and retreating) share price despite buybacks.
Minor tinkering with costs and organisation at top of house..
Zero visibility of CEO (comes out of hibernation to do Q results and the dissapears again)..
141 days officially in the job..
i know hes a finance guy but would have expected a lot more engagement...
What is he doing .. ????

Murray is wielding the only hammer he has as an MBA. Stock buybacks after stock buybacks. Doesn't really matter to investors if they don't see any viable future growth for the company. Strategy is a joke.

Some members of the executive team and the Board flew to Permian to take photos and pretend to know how work gets done. Then they were in Houston office hugging LGBT pillows for another photo opportunity. In the meantime our stock has taken a nose dive. At this rate we will be bought out before the end of the year.

@4brw+1sSlszaL yes, agree. They really needed someone external. All you are getting is the same old, same old. At least an external appointee would have no reason to be loyal to any of them on the leadership team. I am still trying to figure out what GC does on a day to day basis. You could push her out of the door and months later, nobody would know that she had gone. That entire leadership team are paid vast sums of money under false pretences.

@4smf+1sSlszaL the problem is the leadership team was put together by Bertard. When he moseyed off into the sunset, there should have been a complete clearing out of the leadership. It would have been worth whatever it took to pay them off. BTW On Wednesday, it will be nine months since Bertard left and nobody has taken him on so far. Not looking too good.

And absolutely no response from the leadership in response to the company credit outlook being downgraded…….

He’s tinkering on how many employees to cut. Don’t worry, he’ll be engaging soon

They seem to never get the balance right with their CEOs. MA is the Incredible Invisible Man, whereas you couldn't get BL off social media promoting himself and his rubbish ideas.

What he is doing is focusing on constant cost cutting and hiring freeze…
