Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Been Awful quiet regarding RTO....

Its been dead silent the last month about RTO after they were talking about it almost daily....

Not a peep from MD either about RTO since it was announced which is very odd since he always comments to the team after big changes like that.

I wonder if the shredding theyre getting on Tell Dell this year is making them change course..??

"didn't receive their payout until months after the layoff"

not to mention that people that got laid didn't receive their payout until months after the layoff. Is that what you want?

"people, if you don't like it, then quit. You may save someone's job."

stupid advise. Never quit. always let them lay you off so you get the money and they get dinged.

@4get+1nlVgK6L I call BS on that one.
The ones I know with children are now trying to balance a daily commute into the workday along with the endless pointless meetings, increased workload and reduced bonus.
A day a week or a few hours here and there in the iffice is a good thing for personal skill or if you have a cr-ppy home life I agree and some people actually like it.
The issue here is it doesnt work for everyone and pushing staff back has meant the feel like bold children who cant be trusted.
Sales are down for numerous reasons but I dont think WFH is the main issue.
The problem as far as I can see is the wasted over inflated managment who cant seem to steady the ship.
Like I said before,a fish rots from the head down.
Staff moral is in the toilet and this will only make things worse.Again the wrong people get rewarded while the rest beg for scraps.

Oh, you were being sarcastic. I didnt detect that.

Dell office: where all the 90s furniture go to die.

yes I think the people okay with rto are ones with cr-ppy home lives and the ones trying to climb the dell corp ladder

"I disagree. Our office has gone to incredible lengths to make the place nice for employees."

That is just simply wrong. Dell sold/closed buildings and land. Stripped cubes for shared work spaces. IF you think anything Dell is modern and generous you really need to get out more.

But that doesn't replace the true issue that we need to get new staff working and trained up, to do that you need managers who are leaders and are engaged. That happens regardless of whether they are at work or at home. WFH shoulders the blame for uninspiring management or staff that are not proactive.

I disagree. Our office has gone to incredible lengths to make the place nice for employees. There is ample space, it's in a great location and there is everything a modern office needs. If this was 5 or 10 years ago we would be singing praises. But no matter how good the coffee machines you cant get away from the productivity decline that comes from RTO.

The main people that see the office as a great place to be are the people with children, thats a fact. They are very open about not being able to get any work done at home so they come to the office.

They basically liquidated office space and buildings. Trimmed literally all employee amenities. It was basically a firesale and they pocketd all the monies while we gave them free office space, internet and electricity.

please return the buildings, cubes, office space, employee amenities, parking availability, cafe, gym

RTO is good in some ways but not in others. Forced time wasting is not a good execution. When you have really good employees who work really hard and well, then you force them to work badly just to be present, it impacts them.

However the same can be said about the WFH person who is missing all the time. It's a management issue not a location issue.

Our manager was pretty clear who he thought needed to be more present and available.

MD is very openly against RTO. Unless he did a complete 180, it didn’t come from him.

The main thing is the time wasting. We are a very, very busy organization, very busy. Everyone does a lot of work and has a lot to do. Breaking that rhythm and diverting customer activities to office engagements loses that velocity. Working from the office is also very difficult as you get hassled non stop by people wanting to talk to you and distract you from your focused work. Its dreaded by everyone. It's like going on holidays and being haggled all day by locals. People want to get work done.

I know employees who have already sold their homes and moved to states with no Dell office just to get away from this RTO cr-p

i figure once they incur the needed improvements and get the first electric bill they will quickly retreat that RTO

Terrible Tell Dell results would be part of the issue.
They want to cut costs just not everyone all at once.

It was a colossal failure. The quickly found out no one wanted it

The buildings still standing and owned by Dell are dilapidated messes and are not ready to house employees.
