In country travel and sightseeing

How is KSA for internal travel, sightseeing and camping? Is it safe to move about freely and enjoy the culture, sights and locals personalities of KSA? Would you feel comfortable doing such with your wife and children?

And that's how Bahrain makes its business. I called those our sanity trips.

That aside it was funny to see the locals from work (many wearing their thobes) in a bar nursing a scotch on the weekend, only to see them back with a holier than thou attitude.

No one wants to spend a single minute in this country, even locals. Every weekend they rush to Bahrain for fresh air

I felt like a prisoner within the walls of Dhahran. Trips to Bahrain were an ordeal. Trying not to get caught in a huge causeway backup or worse a system outage; maybe miss your flight. Traffic and drivers were insane; speeders, lane weavers, shoulder drivers. If you can do the time within the confines of your air conditioned box then you are are the man!

You can go to some places but not a others you’ll need to talk to people before you go to get the current picture because situations can change quickly. There are a few interesting places but they tend to be spread out. The best two are probably Al ula and scuba diving in the Red Sea. They’re certainly developing the internal tourism places but it’s not quite there yet. If you live in Saudi and are stuck in the country due to COVID it’s worth looking around but I wouldn’t travel to Saudi for tourism.
