Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

It just gets worse..

Every Friday, a new bad news email from the interim CEO… First, no raises. Now, return the office… This makes no sense, as they are selling most of the Deerfield buildings… What is their plan? What I think their plan is, is to allow people to leave on their own, since there is no hiring or backfill of positions. They know exactly what they are doing.. their own way of “saving money” by having people quit and not rehiring.

@4uqf+1oJDQ3Tq: I neglected to include "sarcasm intended". Having worked in a call center for Walgreens it is just as you described. Sort of a prison/galley slave ship environment with supervisors and the occasional HR toady walking the floor to check for serious infractions like cell phones out or food on the desk. Yes, people are burned out and I would not expect any payoff for our efforts. Just more "doing more with less" garbage from corporate.

Rumor is a fall BBQ employee appreciation event will be held in the Deerfield parking lot under a huge tent. Raffle drawing will be held to determine which department(s) moves their workspace into the tent.

Don't worry, there is enough familiar empty office space on Lake Cook Road to lease again.

All this whining(especially at corporate) why do you people stay. Have some self pride. You choose to stay, that is on you.

@4ooe+1oJDQ3Tq: you clearly don’t work at the support office. We don’t have assigned desks just an assigned floor to report to. You can choose a desk anywhere. we also already take our belongings home at the end of the day. The company just took away individual employee assigned file cabinets so no leaving anything in the offices.

Every employee at Walgreens has “leaned in” before, throughout and post Covid and we’re burnt out and are rewarded with no merit raises for our hard work and most likely no bonus just an email saying working remotely is to blame for the company being where it’s at. So apologies for all of us sounding bitter about giving so many hours to a company only to be let down again by our leadership.

Maybe employees can share desks where you remove all your stuff at the end of the day and and take it home or put it in a locker. Everyone needs to "lean in" and put their own self-interest on hold. Sacrifice for the company and you're sure to be rewarded in the long run.

The 200 building has been sold with rumors of a complete tear down of the walkway that cost millions to build. Where does she think everyone is supposed to fit and work? Park? Give me a break. Wake up!

I want to know what they’re going to do about all these Deerfield employees who moved out of state to cheaper locales (AL, AZ, SC, UT, to name a few…) Ms. Graham needs to either adjust the salaries of these folks to better reflect the cost of living in their new locales AND make them report to Deerfield on a monthly basis ON THEIR OWN DIME (no more of the company paying the airfare and hotel for these employees to get face time in the office). Walgreens has just been compensating these people for taking advantage of the company during the pandemic.

Out in the real world, many of our pharmacies are dumpster fires. Check out Reddit to get a sense of the chaos and frustration. Not sure Walgreens can afford to lose more employees (at least in the field). It seems corporate overestimates just how engaged the remaining workforce is. Many are so exhausted, its questionable whether anybody cares where the company is headed at this point.
