I heard today that they will be closing stores by the end of the year…..hopefully not true

@4n2 That's not true. Ge-z, people.
I would ask you do you have any inside information to know that these stores are going to close because I work at Mason city #1 and we seem to be getting a sales increase every week. Also you do realize that the company would not only have to find positions for the employees and if they couldn't then it would cost the company a lot of money in unemployment benefits. That's why companies don't like to close stores unless it's absolutely necessary.
Hyvee lives off rumors and employee uncertainty...they want their folks to feel scared for their jobs.
Me, I'd like to see the director at Burlington 2 get kicked out....among others....what an a--hole
Spouse of retired officer. I don't believe any of that is true
When will they announce these closings?
I keep hearing rumors about directors on bonus having to pay back losses before getting a paycheck under the new pay system? Like the old days? So many rumors flying around!

@2np I really don't think it's anything to worry about. Probably some compensation tweaks that will affect management/dept. heads.
I work at mason city west hy-vee and have been on vacation this week but have not received a text about a dec 1st meeting. I would also say that yes maybe your store does make money but if corporate doesn't think it's hitting where they think it should be at then yes they could close it. I think it just depends on their long term plans and also if they think there's too many stores within a certain mile range although I really hope and pray that your meeting isn't about a store closing because I have been through 2 closures myself and it su-ks ba--s. Time will tell. Good luck!
@2hp pacific street, know the mandatory meeting on 1st but the text message didn’t go out to all employees. So very weird.
@2gr what store are you at? Got one of those mass mandatory meetings as well for December 1st. I’m doubting it’s about a store closure… our store makes money. Wondering if it has to do with the anonymous survey results or getting us all to do the jobs of 5 people because they are cutting labor and also expecting us to be happy about the stress they put on us while we bend over and take it from the customer and management. If we were better staffed maybe we wouldn’t be so stressed and could provide the customer service they demand. Maybe if you started to get rid of employees that call in all of the time or are lazy and don’t do their jobs? It takes a lot to get yourself fired here. Hy-Vee is desperate to hold on to a warm body to fill a spot. Yet the hard working employees that pick up the slack never get recognized. These mandatory paid meetings are joke while the store director talks down to us all like we are all children. We have watched them all not practice what they preach…talking to customers within 10 feet…do whatever it takes for a customer….etc etc. If they are refusing to do it themselves I’m sure this meeting is to reinforce efforts to make us all put a happy smiles on our faces and sing zippidy doo dah.
Also wonder if this has anything to do with the new pay structure coming in January for management and department heads? This meeting could also be about what we need to do to make sure they all get their big paychecks to make their lives easier, happier and healthier. Maybe they are going to ratchet labor down even more and are giving us that this is going to be hard speech but we will all make it through. Hy-Vee! Wake the F up! A success is when employees are happy. When employees are happy your customers are going to be happy too. Duh!
With receiving a mass text about going to a mandatory paid meeting over a week a head of time is worrisome. Wondering if
It’s a notification at all stores or just specific stores
@1z6 All i meant by what I said is it would be a bad look for the company since it promoted so heavily the meals and the donations to the food banks but obviously you must know more than I do about the company's long term plans.
@1f6 No explanation should be necessary. The government shutdown and SNAP delays have nothing to do with a company's long-term plans, unless those plans are contingent on government contracts. Give your head a shake.
@1cq I don't quite understand how i am not connecting dots that aren't there. Please explain.
@186 You're connecting dots that aren't there.
I think anything is possible but i also think they will wait until next year to decide to do that because with the whole situation with the government shutdown now over it would still look really bad for the company to close stores especially with the snap benefits situation although you never know what corporate is doing behind the scenes either. Altogether time will tell what happens.
@gz apparently just stirring the pot since he can't answer the question.
And who did you hear this from? Or are you just stirring the pot getting all us workers nervous?
