She should have looked up the whole CA law of being paid the day you are fired. Hope sears holds paycheck for months since penalty for not paying them that day is only a days pay for up to 30 days. Sure that the email that came at time of termination had a clause about posting company business information on social media. Hope sears takes her to court and wins.

That Said, for the record, I would have no problem being laid off like that. I'd head to the UI office, and then to the Bar, to celebrate my Paid vacation for at least 6 Months (possibly more, with the Unemployment extensions they have now).
The zoom firing makes sense, considering some people get violent these days when they get fired. I'd hate to be the person to say your fired, too dangerous these days. The lady flipped out for like ten minutes in this video. She seemed to think she could negotiate her job back. Like your fired lady it's just business, take your broke a-s to walmart for a job.

I notified loss prevention about the video and they had it removed.
Although the position wouldn't be the most stable, it appeared that they'd trained for it and they were ready to take some kind of test that day but got let go instead.
There are so many ways to do this better such as tell them in person and throw in an extra week of pay. Such a small amount per person to make it a little better. Have the paperwork ready and OFFER the immediate payout to the CA people and anyone else that's eligible for same day pay.
Retailers never do layoffs in December, so the fact that Sears is doing this now and quickly by using zoom…..the end is near. Rest assured that those folks doing the firing on zoom, will be getting their pink slips soon, that’s the Eddie way.
Even if you don't give a s--t about the employees, read the reviews on the Better Business Bureau website........looks like a lot of the general public has been burned pretty bad too!

SHE IS LUCKY THEY EVEN TOLD HER ON ZOOM! I THOUGHT SEARS WAY OF DOING THINGS WAS TO JUST STOP PAYING PEOPLE AT SOME POINT, AND LET THEM FIGURE IT OUT FOR THEMSELVES!

Why anyone would want to do anything with Sears is beyond me? Sc--w vendors, sc--w customers, sc--w retirees, sc--w employees, sc--w creditors, sc--w investors...............
