Wow must be all exempt people in here...while we small nonexempt have been back in the office for a while yes GW while you all folks WFH we dont have a choice. While the numbers are going high we at the office...some have been sent out for 14 days for possible covid...so if u dont see us when you come back in Oct we must be in the hospital. We in trouble for not checking in daily on that damn app
I wish there were other managers like yours, @4gbv. All I see around me is micromanagers, who don't want and don't know what to do in a WFH world.
My Manager does not care about us WFH. In fact at the office he’s two floors away from our group. As long as we are being productive and have RESULTS, work well with each other, etc no problem!
Seriously, who gives a rats a** if managers and executives get satisfaction or not from their reports working from home.
What the below comment is trying to say, is managers (very few of them are leaders at oxy) like to micromanage and control their employees, and that is harder to do in a WFH situation.
It is hard to imagine that managers and executives get much internal reward from having the employees work from home. As leaders some of the job satisfaction and organizational effectiveness comes from observing the employees interact and succeed as a physical group. Also, developing the interpersonal relationships with employees is easier and more effective in person. Let’s hope this virus ends soon so that people can get back to work at the office.
Lets be honest. Yall just want to work from home so you can put in a nice 6 hour day with no commute. I don't blame you, with the low moral and priorities changing weekly, it is hard get excited about your work. Plus, its only fair since they are only paying for 6 hours anyway.
Work from home work from home has anybody ever thought about the actual people doing the work out in the field and there exposure
These put downs and insults remind of when I was in the 8th grade. Really takes me back.
I wouldn't shame anybody. Not because I don't think they shouldn't be called out, but because this is Texas. You never know when someone with a fragile ego decides to brandish his piece because his feelings got hurt...
I agree with wearing a mask whenever you go out, but there’s no point in shaming others to get them to agree with or behave like you. And to say it’s “extremely” contagious suggests you pay more attention to headlines than data. In Montgomery county (where we haven’t had mandatory mask rules in place, and have been relaxed with the reopening, compared to other neighboring counties), our case rate has never exceeded .5% of the population. And though our new case counts have increased recently, following suit with all areas of Texas, hospitalizations are still down, and the total recovered cases is twice the number of active cases. Further, across the state, the deaths from retirement homes and long-term care facilities make up about a third of all deaths, but those same facilities account for only a tenth of cases statewide. Bottom line, wear a mask, protect the vulnerable populations, but examine the data being reported to you. I guarantee the news reporters haven’t dug into them.
Please MASK UP! Does not matter to me if it’s the law or not. It’s standard infection PPE in hospitals everywhere. With this extremely contagious virus it is important for everyone to mask up and do their part. This way the virus will die out a lot faster.
Out of state, yeah right. There's no shortage of dumb id–ts in Texas.
Doubt they were from out of state as the guy had a Magnolia EMS t-shirt on, and I was in Magnolia. Looks like the same old same old making excuses for everything.
Did you ever think the young couple could have been from out of state and wasn’t aware of the law in effect in Texas. Besides they should have been told by store management to use a mask or leave.
I think it is all going to come down to the individual, and we can't depend on either political party, but have to depend on ourselves. Read the article below to see just what is happening to San Antonio. Plus, the virus is leaving people with everlasting issues that could come back and k–l them. I was in HEB today and everyone had their mask on except for one young couple. I guess some of us will just be too good to protect others.

Some of the other oil companies aren’t going back until there is a decline in cases. Not happening soon!
Right. If everyone wears masks the transmission rate is greatly reduced.. A person infected with COVID-19 whether or not symptomatic infects in average 12 persons. Those 12 persons in turn each infect 12 more, giving exponential increases infection. The less people infected the better and masks have a greater chance to let this virus die out.
Wear masks people! It doesn't make you look weak and it's not a hoax. Masks will save lives.
CVX and other oil companies till WFH. CVX quoted as saying the lobby would be overflowing with crowds waiting to get on elevators and too many people. Greenway is the same situation, also some of the food court employees got COVID and had to shut down. OXY is doing the right thing,
Take advantage of it while you can. Been about 4 months of steady WFH. Even if we go back tomorrow it was a nice ride while it lasted. Some major oil companies already have their employees back, so just enjoy while we can. I doubt you will ever be able to get a job based only if you can work from home, and get paid like oil companies pay.
I agree it is not like they are doing it because they are operator of choice, they are forced to allow us to continue to work from home. Way too many people work at greenway to do it any other way
They are only having you work from home because they are forced to do it due to the coronavirus.
Oxy is doing the right thing this time. I am so glad they realized we could WFH and do a good job. I actually get a lot more work done during the day minus the commute. We always seem to complain on this board and we should give credit for management's decisions on the virus. This is the most important decision they have made over anything else, because it is saving lives.
Only some managers and HSE going. Definitely not even 10%. Glad Oxy did the right thing and kept us safe. At least one positive sign.
How many are actually back at Greenway 5 & 3?
