Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Bye bye Hughes Landing

I was told we are not renewing our lease at Hughes Landing. Does anyone know the approximate number of employees we have there? I imagine it will the minimum amount let go/retiring in the Houston area.

Hughes Landing was never needed. I don’t see why we just didn’t work together to get everyone on campus.

Won’t need HL or the campus as all those positions are moving to South America, India, and Asia. EM also can count those overseas jobs as part of their EEOC quota so double bonus.

Honestly was building the campus and leasing Hughes Landing better than keeping Bell, Brookhollow, Fannin, Greenpoint, etc.?

The Fannin lease is cheaper. Will they move some of the HL personnel to Fannin? There have also been talks about leasing 800 Bell since the Developer that purchased that site hasn’t been able to sell or lease it. Perhaps it’s the curse of 800 Bell.

This is verifiable with public records because Exxon got a tax abatement with The Woodlands Township, so they will have to communicate and possibly pony up the money back

Yes I head it was a 10 year lease at some really cheap price and was 5 years ago. Maybe they are getting out or found someone to sublease. They're still spending alot of unnecessary money on power generation, lights, electricity etc. So even if they pay out the lease, just vacating premises will at least cut out the uneccessary utility bills.

10 year lease agreement from what I was told by GREF at the time. So doubt the lease agreement is up for extension; possible we are breaking the lease or claiming force majeur.

It makes sense not to renew. Once the layoffs happen there is going to be a lot of empty space on campus.

When does the lease expire?

How many contractors were let go between the campus and Hughes landing? Potentially relocating many of them with the downsizing.
