Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Trimming The Fat

HyVee new corporate mission statement is called Trimming The Fat. Jeremy G is cutting any program that is not turning a profit. Jeremy is going to get lean in the next 5 years. They are talking about closing 50 stores that haven’t made profit in 30 years. They are looking at cutting labor. Looking at cutting wages for director and mangers. The next five years will either bring HyVee back from Randy E failures or HyVee will file for bankruptcy. Time will tell.

@2vq There is no partnership with Manning. Give your head a shake, dimwit.

I went to the mandatory meeting this past week talking about "friendliness". And I must say if Hy-Vee is so focused on the helpful smile in every aisle then they better start with Jeremy Gosch. He'll the dou--ebag can't even smile when addressing the employees. What a bi--h. If there trying to rally the troops then the company better look in the mirror or I fear it'll be too late.

@4x5 If you are b*tching, then why are you still working for the company? Just go work some place else.

@3xb just went to my mandatory meeting a couple of days ago and your right it was a beat down. The CEO can’t even talk to us without reading a cue card. Watching his eyes go back and forth was distracting. His message came across disingenuous.

@4jx that you didn’t get to go? Did you want them to shut down every store? Did you want them to send every single employee? Regardless of what you may think based upon your previous posts management is not easy. Maybe it was a trip well deserved. Stop hating. Get out of your feelings. Not everyone gets a trophy.

@4e2 Anniversaries should include All employees in some way shape or form. It takes a village ,a family as we like to say. When you gift those in attendance , return to stores and give em their goodies bags..wow. Did you even consider the others ? Pretty amazed that our company thinks this example is inclusive and makes us stronger or more dedicated.

@3zc your grammar su-ks for the subpar corporate employee that you are. And BTW which meeting are you referring to the extravagant celeb infested party or the mandatory beat down meetings that have begun? Can you offer us some free alcoholic beverages while we experience the other show called “The Beat Down” ? Think it’s only fair since you all corporate and store directors, managers, department heads and “important people the store cliches” you choose to go got the whole hog and alcohol! BTW everyone that went got paid to go! While we worked our a-s off! F’ing shame on you Hy-Vee! Just another way to sh-t down all of our throats! You ruined friendliness years ago. Your comment here on this post and the BIG 95th anniversary elitist show tells us everything. Until you start appreciating every single one of us and treated us well you will get what you give! Which you give us nothing so you get nothing. There was a time when this company cared but now it’s just a bunch of fu--ing greed! Where is our 95th anniversary thank you? Guess you spent it all on rubbing your nuts on another celebrity.

The meeting was for the employees that they careful and like. If you weren’t invited to the meeting it might be time to find a new job.

@2zd thanks a lot…..
Mandatory meetings set up store wide the next few weeks. So they (the absent leadership) can all Preach!
Maybe if you actually appreciated us…the ones who held up the show while you were at the show we would all feel differently.

@2dc 25 years and you didn't make it to department manager? What have you been doing? The meeting was for store leaders, who are counted on to take the info back to their employees (read: you). You expect them to "invite" 70k people?

It was just a normal day where yet again leadership was absent at store level.

Peyton manning is going to replace mark lol. How many labor hours will HyVee make you cut in order to pay for the partnership with manning.

@2qf What do you mean Wahlberg and Stone were there? That's the d-mbest thing I've ever heard. They were in a video that was played on the big screen. Goofball.

Mark wahlburg and Curtis stone were both at the event. Looks like Randy finally talked some sense into Jeremy G and brought back the talent that built HyVee.

@27n The invited is the truth. Always the dept managers getting to go. Never long time 25 plus year employees. So the unwanted dedicated employees will be of course doing the work. It's crazy that it's the 95th anniversary for the company and not everyone gets to celebrate. Hope they have fun

Why don’t they trim the fat from the top? They are all over payed for the mediocre jobs they do all the while blaming the ones who are actually doing the jobs that are keeping this company going. So keep cutting hours and decreasing the pay of these hardworking people…you (corporate f-tards) reap what you sow!

HyVee managers are the unfriendliest people in the store. It's embarrassing. They not only don't talk to the help but don't even talk to customers. I'm in the Quad Cities as well and they have cornered the market for price gouging. I've quit going there

So there's a customer service meeting next week.If they talk about customer service pertaining to speaking to the customer and having the so called helpful smile THE COMPANY BETTER START WITH THEIR SUPERVISION AS WHEN IM IN THE STORES I THE QUAD CITY MARKET AND SEE A SUPERVISOR FROM CORPORATE THEY WONT EVEN SPEAK TO YOU.IT STARTS AT THE TOP.

All market grills with bars in them have been shut down. They started taking the bars out but had to stop because of cost to take the bars out of the stores.This was a horrible decision by know it all corporate people to put these in the stores.Its to bad nobody had the ba--s to stand up to Randy so you wouldn't have to spend this money to correct this massive sc--w up.

HyVee isn’t that great of a company. HyVee corporate doesn’t care about the employee. Why do you defend a company like HyVee. The benefits aren’t great. The pay isn’t great unless you are a director. The hours are terrible. Please list some why you defend HyVee.

@r3
So, yeah. Blowhard. You repeat what you see on the news, apply your own inaccurate analysis, and then act like you're Nostradamus. Didn't you also predict big layoffs after last quarter?
Every company is looking for ways to save some money. Every good company, anyway.

You can call me a blow heart but we all know HyVee is in trouble and the ship has been on fire since Randy took over as CEO. HyVee is looking at everything to save a dollar right now. Remember when I told you that HyVee isn’t expanding down south anymore because of cash flow issues. You were the same guys saying it’s not true. HyVee credit rating has been downgraded and that why they couldn’t expand.

I have worked for Hy-Vee for 20 years and yes I have seen a lot of changes in my time. Yes I do think they are cutting costs because I see it all the time with hours being trimmed. However I do not think they will close 50 stores. I how ever could see at least 10-20 stores close over the next 5 years but time will tell.
