More layoffs in Pricing & Agreements at SBS on 9/25/20
Corp layoffs have started,
Good luck to all of those who are in denial and believe their job is secure and it can’t and won’t happen to them. You are going to be disappointed.
This regionalization has already happened in Canada. No one was safe. HR, Merch, finance, AE MA all got cut including lots of middle management
No one is safe
Do you honestly think there are going to give a heads up before a reduction in head count? Think again.
Greg B said finance, merchandising and HR would see little if any change with this consolidation. The focus is middle management. Now, does that mean y'all are safe? Maybe for the time being. They can't get rid of everyone at once.
How could they cut MA's? They're the reason we ship groceries?
Yes they will consolidate. If they're cutting presidents and VP's, you better believe they'll keep cutting other places.
RIP MA's.
I think we're in for round 2...
Does anyone know how this consolidation will impact finance associates/profit management ? Will they try to combine/consolidate/minimize finance coordinator roles as they create these shared/combined opcos within regions?
You're right. That's how it's going.
All he has to do is survive 2 years and he doesn't have to pay back a dime we've paid him. And that's millions of dimes.
I hope that Kevin H gets fired!!!
I thought layoffs are now being concentrated at the opco level, VP row. There will be one leadership team per region that sits under the regional president. No CFO's, no more VP of Merchandising, they will simply be managers if they're picked for that position. Director of Revenue Management is now simply Revenue Manager. And 2/3 of the opco presidents will be gone. This is all focused on VP and upper management positions. Not sure what cuts will be made at Cypress or Houston.
Had conference call today. TOTAL company restructuring. Opcos are merging together. My president is being laid off. DSM's and sales are next. Get ready boys. Kevin's knob is coming for you.
I got the call this afternoon. A script was read to me but I guess I got one of the better ones.
I'm leaving furlough and returning to work in August. Good luck to everyone here.
After they read you the script, you will be asked to logoff, and at that point your network access cuts off.
FYI the furloughed employees cannot 'erase' or 'delete' documents/emails, as their IDs were shut out and they had no Corporate access.......
Business Resources is getting it today. Calls are being made throughout theday....
Aren't they supposed to file WARN notices? I see other companies do, and I wonder why Sysco can lay off so many at Corp and Cypress without doing it?
They are not going to tell you until the day of. People previously have erased important notes and documents from computers and files and they prolong to try to prevent that from happening and want you to work up until then. You are right. The lists are already compiled and ready to go as well as the we no longer need you scripts.
You are correct. Personal holidays and sick days are NOT reimbursed AND you can only use rollover sick days from previous years if you go on FMLA. They fail to mention any of this during onboarding. Another shady tactic to screw over the employees.
Why don’t the just tell us now and get it over with if they already know who is being eliminated? Why drag us through the mud any longer? This is torture. The sooner we know our fate, the sooner we can plan to get on with our lives!!!
Severance is a week for every year of service and capped at 26 weeks. It is paid lump sum and 30% taken out for taxes. Good luck
Get any medical or dental work done immediately for yourself and family, because the day you are terminated you will lose coverage until you can arrange COBRA. And COBRA is very expensive.
Also, use as much accrued sick time as possible, because Sysco will not pay this out lit accrued pto.
Don't think doing this will save you from being terminated. The list is probably already in concrete.
Good luck.
More layoffs! Corporate used to be 2k+ employees with all layoffs over years cypress and enclave have now 1000 employee. I don't know of any fortune 50 companies with that low corporate headcount
Layoff all the non contributing directors and VPs reporting into each other if you want results and less wages and bonus expenses
Prepare. Heard the same from a VERY reliable source. This will be worse than last one !!!!
