Anyone would care to chime in with a prediction about potential 3M layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Fairmont is an SIBG plant, but not all products belong to SIBG:

Dual Lock™ Reclosable Fasteners and Dual Lock™ Piece Parts
Hook and Loop Fasteners (formerly known as Scotchmate™) - a competitor to Velcro
Bumpon™ Protective Products
EBL Fastening Products (the loop half of the hook & loop closures on diapers)

Expect a few people being picked off every month. It's all part of BBs psyops to get people spooked so that they leave voluntarily and don't get a severance. BB needs that money for more stock buybacks. The latest round where a lot of people just got handed a 2 (below average) ranking is another psyops move. Make people feel the walls are closing in so they jump ship.

Don't. Give. In. If they tell you that you are below average, then start working below average. Your boss who followed orders and threw people under the bus will not survive if people start working poorly. He or she will get a 2 and be escorted out of the Center by year end.

Bundle up in frigid Minnesota. BB is will be enjoying Florida sunshine and millions on his yacht this weekend.

At corporate it seems like plant reviews are ongoing. RTO was a smokescreen

Salary employees were notified of their termination this morning at the Decatur site. No details on how many or which departments, but we were told this is a company wide effort.... Interested to hear what other sites have been impacted.

@2at the goal isn't to grow anything anymore.

Bill's priority is to cut costs so that the pieces of 3M are attractive to buyers.

And the best way to do that is to get rid of employees.

@2at the number of marketing people across all the businesses and areas is insane. Has nothing to do with commercial center and outsourcing or not.

Marketing cuts would be premature. They need Commercial Center that operates efficiently and points of contact first. Right now the CC seems so outsourced that it is overly focused on standardized work and forcing marketing to comply, instead of marketing driven toward customer needs. Cutting marketing or centralizing in this environment might cut costs but won’t grow anything.

They would be devoid of consultants, for one thing.

Buckle up TEBG marketers. Big restructuring to hit in early 2026. Apparently VPs and Directors have already been informed to plan their cuts and all marketing roles will come out of the product teams into one central department.

Is it possible that the reason plants must develop their own plan is because no one at the central office has any idea about how to develop plans?

@x3

Folks in plants wanted the ‘office’ employees to stop complaining about RTO

That's the problem.

They pit worker against worker, so the folks in the plants are busy whining about how unfair it is that they can't work from home and how we needed to get rid of WYW to make things fair.

Meanwhile Bill Brown and the rest of his talentless cronies are happily watching attrition drive the number on the expense report down, rubbing their hands together like Monty Burns.

Folks in plants wanted the ‘office’ employees to stop complaining about RTO, but RTO led to the ability to review and analyze plant closures in person? Sounds like C-Suite played worker against worker! Everyone lost!

@ bf your information is accurate. There has been talks about asking plants to establish their own Site management plans. Those who are unable to display any advantage would be primed to FMR closure soon.

Predict cuts at plants, as review and analysis deepens in Q1 2026. Follow travel from corporate. Plant capacity has been under review in HQ since RTO
