Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Anyone having luck with finding another job?

I do not expect this week's cuts will be the last. I dodged the bullet this time, but I am worried. Macy’s on the downward trajectory. Retail as an industry is in a bad shape. I am stressing over the possibility that I will lose my job next time around. And next time will come - sooner than later. I am stressing about my prospects on the job market if that happens. I can’t afford not to have a job for more than a month. I’ve been sending applications here and there just to check how things are. Haven’t got a single call yet. Have any of you had any luck?

It’s all about DEI. If you’re a minority, your job is safe.

To the big mouth speaking about favoritism with minorities, nobody gave me anything. If your skillset is anything like your low comments, no wonder you got clipped. As they advised, get an amazing resume, find some skills other than being racist and by all means, get an amazing attitude. Best wishes to: Post ID: @1zik+1qIjFjY1

I got laid off from Macy's 6 years ago next week and ended up with a better paying job and no stupid holiday, 1 day sales, ect. hours. It's driving school buses and in my area in PA the average starting is $20+/hr. Plus most districts and companies offer free often paid training.

Macy's is on a dead spiral, and they created this mess with their favoritism and so-called innovative programs for minorities. Get out people you are losing time and money with this garbage company.

Wait a few months then apply,, January is always a difficult month to find a new job as not many retailers are hiring.

The best thing you can do is… create an amazing LinkedIn. Google ways to make your LinkedIn stand out. Open to recruiters. Follow companies you are interested in. When I was laid off in 2020 I took a class on this. I ended up being RECRUITED by my dream company.

Keep applying now, I have been applying for the last few months and have just been hearing back from hiring managers and in the initial steps of interviewing over the last month. It’s a time consuming process, the sooner you start the better! Good luck.

There are other retail jobs out there...Target and Walmart are doing amazingly well. Get out of the Macy's store mentality...These stores represent the retail of the future, maybe because they serve the average joe. Also designer and name brand companies, go directly to the vendors for jobs. Think out the box. Apply for all and focus your cover letter on what your experience can bring the position you are applying for. Good luck! "When one door closes another one opens"

Definitely go after job prospects aggressively. You are way more hire-able while employed and will have more leverage negotiating salary.
