From the past - "Chuck Schumer (D) Calls Windstream CEO Anthony Thomas To Urge Him To Keep Jobs; Windstream CEO Confirms Commitment To Rochester And Promises To Preserve Jobs" - Yet now they are allowed to be 2/3rds foreigner owned. Who lied then and who is lying now?
Nettxio NOC couldn't find their butt with both hands.

There really are few companies as bad as Windstream is for the rank and file. Also many of the folks did not seek employment, got rather tied, to Windstream not by choice but rather when the company they chose to work for got acquired.
If you see a Windstream sales popup at a event, very politely and very loudly, ask how they got FCC approval to have majority foreign ownership. Then ask how much cheaper Windstream services to their competitors considering the inherent of being on a foreign owned network. Remember to film the response and post for all to see.
Remember that Chuck Schumer (D) was heavily involved with Windstream's acquisition approvals that are costing some their jobs now. Please sir, may I have another!
Data prove was hit bad as well. We had 2 people leave a few months ago, 1 was a Layoff the other was retired. Now last week, 3 more, me included.. 24 years of experience leaving the building. I read the above posts and agree, there are not many good seasoned tech's left at WS. I feel bad for all my friends at WS that were laid off, but i know you're all very talented and smart and you'll all land somewhere even better..! : )
What you’re hearing is rumors. That’s all this company is. They run the business by the seat of their pants and don’t know from day to day. A full blown mass layoff is needed at the top and several layers under them. Way to much management here.
Nettxio is doing a really good job maintaining our network, we are lucky to have them.
Considering they were making moves over 5 years ago and having people sign NDAs to go over seas and train peoples replacements should of been enough for people to pause and think. That type of stuff has been happening a while. You see a co worker go away on a project they're most likely doing the same thing.
My group was told we were safe for a year after the last horrid layoffs. But most of my team got it this round. Including myself. Years of loyalty and faithfulness gutted in one phone call filled w at least 100 others. Sick way to do it. Cowards. This is a sinking ship and no one is safe. Don’t believe a word they say. The town halls are legit lies so they can hang on to what is left until the next round. Please be careful. Get your affairs together. If it could happen to us, a group inundated with work, it can happen to you. No matter how much work you have, you are not ok. This post is not coming from anger, it comes from sadness for all that was let go and to all I still deeply care about who were not affected. Yet.
Does anyone know the total number this round?
They could offer triple or quadruple what I made there and wouldn't convince me to go back. Knowing that how they treated everyone, their terrible benefits, terrible leadership, the fact that when they finish their merger it's most likely going back up for sale. No thanks
No ones coming back to this place, I received an offer of 50 percent more than what I was making at Windstream when my group got outsourced last year.
Unfortunately I still have to deal with this company for circuit issues and fiber cuts. It doesn't instill much confidence calling into your outsourced transport noc and hearing what sounds like a party going on in the background.
Not to mention your bs hourly updates on fiber repairs.
It's all about illusions and lies. Always has been from the manager to the CEO. They believe they're smarter than anyone buts it's all a sham. They cam trial all they want but I can imagine no moves will be made till after the merger. It's all about optics to leaders to pretend like they're listening. Meanwhile they canned everyone that really knew the network. Let's not pretend that this round or layoffs was a difference maker. People have been regurgitating the same thing for every round of layoffs and that they're group was somehow more important than any others. Nothing impactful will happen until after the merger but for now it's "business as usual " Time to stop complaining and do something about your situation. Nobody cares about except you. Sooner you get that the better off you'll be.
But this is no longer a company that sells and services a product, it hasn’t been since before the pandemic. You all act like you don’t know that this is a company built by and for managers/management/executives. It’s been gutted over the last ten years while Elliot trains the execs to not concern themselves over petty things like customers, but make sure you’re making money from those customers. For instance, have a pm call a customer to let them know that we will no longer support the cr-ppy system we installed for you last year, but we are going to “upgrade” you at minimum cost to you. (And then go install anything different that constantly causes the customer to have to use their backup system that someone else put in, if the customer is smart). Cr-ppy company, cr-ppy management, seriously cr-ppy service.
Thats all anything off shore does is read a script and if you tell them something not on their script they don't understand and then transfer you somewhere else.. how is that supposed to instill confidence in the customer? When they finally get someone that can help them they are so pi---d off. Do you blame them? Now we "trial" bringing repair back? Who is really making these decisions? We need some new vp's and mgrs to have some rel fresh ideas not the same old stuff that we cycle around then act like its the greatest thing but was something that didnt work a few years ago 🤦♀️🤦♀️
We don't have a NOC. We have a NOC NOC joke.
Offshore is as useless as ti-s on a snake. They can read a script but can't actually troubleshoot.
It's a dumpster fire. We are a skeleton of what we once we're. I'm not sure how we sustain the business? These decisions made were purely financial and not based on maintaining the business or technical aptitude.
We are in REAL trouble going forward. One step away from a major outage and no one to fix it. The NOC and off shore team are totally worthless.
