It’s simple, be as loyal to Citi as Citi is to you.
Job searching or interviewing is Not unlike dating. The problem is, is that the Employers/Companies expect and want the potential employees to Not date/interview with any other Employer other than themselves. This expectation is Not realistic or equitable. It's a two way street that works both ways. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Post ID: @5ajc+1vrJrA6s This is especially true when the Interviewers are of Citi's favourite demographic. And in general, Birds of a feather flock together. You can expect the same treatment from URMs.
Post ID: @3yst+1vrJrA6s What you just described is the job hunting process. It's literally a lottery or raffle ticket game where job hunters drop as many tickets-Resumes-job applications as possible hoping and wishing to get chosen for an initial interview, then hoping and wishing to get chosen into the next interview round which hopefully ends with a job offer.
After about 3 months of job hunting, applicants start to get desperate and apply for jobs they previously would Not have considered thereby dropping more lottery/raffle tickets-Resumes-job applications.
I'd wait until the sh!t settles again because right now EOY layoffs are probably looming. I wouldn't want to be the new person who is the sacrificial lamb and bottom of the totem pole or an unknown in new dept or org. It seems sus to me to have a bunch of new meetings the week before Thanksgiving if bad news isn't coming. Tensions are high in tech right now. So far Q4 includes a bunch of status reports, IMs and micromanagement. WE'RE supposed to be simplifying and there are more meeting than ever, more new PPTs or EXCEL reports (ugh hate these), and managers using transparency in every other sentence.
Most post seem to be either fake internal jobs or looking for a unicorn. If you interview with a group of gate keepers before you even get to see the hiring manager good luck. Any manager not willing to talk to you themselves after their directs met with you and form their own opinion is an id--t. Sometimes the minions don't want change or someone they can't boss around. If you have more skills and experience thank 4/4 (lol. not a typo) people in the group interview you can expect not to get the job.
Just apply for every role you're somewhat interested in. Lateral, promotion, something completely different. You never know which are real postings vs. ones already promised and they just need to interview enough ppl to meet quotas. When it's right, it's right and you can get hired very fast (i just did and didn't know a single person on that team). It's still Citi but a million times better. I must have applied to over 40 positions within 6 months
You are better off trying harder outside. There are many open positions. Keep trying. Don’t loose heart. Get your severance from Citi. But keep trying outside. Citi is not worth the toll it takes on your mental health. Matter of time before employees start looking into legal options.
