Here is a question for folks who worked at multiple large companies. If you copmare Allscripts to your experiences, would you say that Allscripts offers better career prospects?

Worked at IBM and BusinessObjects. Allscripts has very little in every category and I would consider it a dead end job. Almost no career advancement no payment for performance. In the 11 years I saw, after 2 or so years get out. Your salary and opportunities will be immediately better. They rarely give more than standard of living. They only profit share with management and executive levels. Nothing for dev unless you are a principal. This is Wall Street level greed with bumbling tall white guys. Competence requirements double if you have a uterus or are BIPOC.

a company must have a market cap of $10 BILLION to be considered a large cap stock.
MDRX's market cap is $2.3B which makes them a small cap stock.
If it wasnt for the cash from sales of Careport and EPSI they would be a midget cap stock.

Your "profound statement" of Allscripts being large cap although at lower spectrum and to narrow a product/services offerings to develop internal growth

That's is an id–tic statement ... Made by id–tic "leadership" attempting to sound proficient in a subject they know nothing about. Take you pick of Allscripts leaders.

Thank you for ending 2020 on a comical note.. if your "profound" statement was satire my apologies.

Allscrips a large cap stock? They claim a tick over 1 billion a year... That is barely small cap. 10 billion more a year is large cap... So they not even in the "spectrum'

Too narrow a product line to offer growth opportunities... seriously.. lol...

PB has brought in muliutple ex-Cerner folks in to high level positions. None has panned out. Some were fired and some just fizzled out. He brought in a Sales VP that got fired for getting wasted at a national sales meeting and making a complete ahole of himself.
LK has brough in multiple people from E&Y and UPMC that had no experience in a software company and none of them have panned out.
It all comes down to being a "BEE" at this point to get ahead......

Allscripts products and services are too narrow to offer a diverse employee growth path. It’s also on the bottom of the large cap spectrum.

So in all fairness, they cannot complete with larger and broadly-diversified enterprises.

Our group had a shared Pluralsight subscription for learning new technology. Content is very good on that site.

You are advocating linked in as a online training source? Allscripts recommend it? If YES, this is painfully obvious your first rodeo. One of the major failures in Allscripts is they are reluctant to advance any product line to take advantage of new technology coding advancement. They chase bells and whistles and ignore the core. I do agree coders need to continue to advance their own skills and abilities then jump Allscripts to a more progressive ..industry relevant company . A company that utilizes current technologies and practices. Managers throw out buzz words and acronyms with little understanding of how to implement.

The BEST thing any Developer can do is take responsibility for their OWN future. Decades ago, corporations would help groom their employees to be productive because they knew that was a big bonus to the company. It kept the employee happy and engaged, and it kept the company productive without having to spend an arm and a leg for 'experts' who may or may not be what they claim they are.

But companies like Allscscripts DO actually make online training avavailable (or did) through Microsoft and LinkedI98n which, for the most part, are pretty excellent and not limited to only Developers. If you're still employed by Allscripts find the links (if they're still there) and aggressively work through them.
If you're not employed there anymore, you missed out.
The one thing that bugged me the most was the expectation that the company would allow you time off to train yourself. That is simply stupid when you're being handed a potential WAY OUT. WHY haven't our associates taken advantage of this? I have no idea. It's a da *& mn shame though, particularly since LinkedIn kept publically accessible records online that recruiters have access to.

If you're no longer employed take the time to learn new and important skkills. Practice memorization like the Indians do, and keep at it!

Best of luck!

No, not better at all. The prospects for upward mobility were few and far between. I would only recommend taking a job here if you were a newbie and wanted experience. Or you were in desperate need of a job. In both case I would say to move on the greener pastures as soon as possible.

Managers keep everyone back unless close friends or family. Support managers are weak and controlled by less knowledgeable but arrogant subordinates

I'll bite .... I fear no one from Allscripts. Arrogance is form of stupidity.

Over 20 years vested/waisted there is no career path unless married to someone in management...family member. Or an a– lamprey... Look at the career paths laid out ...they are just individual boxes. No connections. That model was introduced when the pharma c—tail addict from cisco showed up..

ROFL! uhhhh, no.

Most managers are too busy trying to justify their own positions and manage up. They don't have any free time to try to help advance anyone else's careers.
