Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Blackrock

For some reason this has become somewhat of a taboo subject, but I think at this point it's pretty clear Blackrock is guiding Iger on the direction of the company (not saying it's good or bad, just saying that's the reality of the situation).

Since Blackrock is steadfast on, in Larry Fink's own words, "forcing behaviors" through ESG, it begs the question: what are the mitigation plans should this ESG thing fail? Rather than changing anyone's minds on "inclusivity", it sure seems like it's doing more to polarize people and stigmatize companies that participate.

I'm sure this is a stretch, but is there anyone in upper management here that knows what the plan is if these trends continue? Obviously layoff after layoff and a continued decline in customers isn't sustainable, and I don't think Larry Fink could care less.

Blackrock is no longer the majority stock holder in Disney. That is now Vanguard who swore off ESG earlier this year. I would be hopeful except Iger just got an extension. Remove one cancer and another pops up

@4mcx+1mRgvO6L he’s right, I don’t know what position you are in but in finance and accounting this ESG stuff isn’t exactly secret. It’s important to the business for many different reasons, one of which is maintaining a healthy relationship between the shareholders and the board. What’s really weird is that you would react so angrily to something that is common knowledge.

I do work here, which is why I understand how goofy it is to call blackrock's influence over executive decisions a "conspiracy". we all know this is happening, so why don't you?

What I'd like to know is why are you so obsessed with Disney? You obviously don't work here, so you shouldn't be on this forum anyhow. This literally has nothing to do with you.

@3pli+1mRgvO6L Larry Fink and Blackrock are Disney's largest shareholder, and the guy literally said they're leveraging ESG to force behaviors. How on earth is it a conspiracy that a CEO's efforts would be made on making his shareholder(s) happy?

Iger is running the show himself. He barely asks for any feedback from his staff much less Larry Fink. Stop being a conspiracy nut. Admit that the big guy is his own enemy.

ESG is the main reason paramount is looking for a buyer right now so the question isn't whether ESG is going to fail but how far Iger is willing to let disney fall before it's too late
