Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Just venting

It is disgusting and shameful to say the least how the previous ceo(s) along with other executives past and present can have taken such huge salaries to manage a company and then basically run it into the ground. Oh i know....they have to pay top dollar to get talented people....how did that work out? Would welcome comments from those here that know far more about this stuff than me.

Avaya's reputation '..they're so ruthless, they'd eat their own children' is pretty apt. Poaching indirect business from partners (despite light-touch/channel centric model), sacking staff (to reduce costs from continual poor leadership), etc.

The upper/middle level people 'managers' are all 'Yes' folks and subscribe to Groupthink for fear of losing their own jobs. It's notable many of these mid/late career folks are ex-Nortel... Long-term, they should know what to expect. The early career folks with no telco experience, simply take their lead from managers and believe what they're told to believe.... Talk about, blind leading the blind.

I think the saddest part is the executives only last about 2-3 years, get boatloads of money, know nothing about the company, and get a huge payout to leave but the workers that spent 25+ years at the company get same day notice that today will be last day.

Then they say the following day "I think we did it in a respectable way"
