Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

Metric requirement increases

Leadership in degree have made it pretty clear that metric requirements are going to increase for ICs. It’s a bit unclear how exactly they can force that, they hinted at possible increases but we have already been told no increases. So, can they actually force us in any real way to do the work of the people they have let go?

Obviously we are all taking on more work but as an IC I don’t know where my accountability lies in actually covering for the shortfall. I figure that if I do the work I’m required to do, at least 30-40% of what’s required won’t get done. If I do that work I get… nothing (maybe a Friday shoutout!!). If I don’t do that work I get… nothing.

There is so much desperation was on now at 2U. KPIs are ridiculous. Managers telling you your dials need to go higher while complaining that we are not answering the phones! How can we answer phones if we are trying to make ridiculous numbers of dials! 85 calls a day is the standard. This is aside to all the other processes we need to cover. Nothing has changed. We are going timber.

The DEI troll is just trying to distract forum participants from sharing actual useful/helpful info with each other, building worker solidarity etc. Do not feed the troll, they are very boring.

My theory is it’s just one guy in his moms basement.
Still waiting on his explanation for why dei = bad. And is it all races nonwhite? Non-Christian religions? Just like, why?

Truly curious with these DEI comments if these are employees or bitter investors that can’t seem to understand Chip Paucek is and always has been a white man.

Now, go wash up… your momma is callin you to eat the breakfast she made for yah-while the scrapple is still nice n hot… yum!

ICs who complain about metrics are the ones who are lazy. So many teams crush it and nobody say a Word but the SSA and ACs who milk it push back with every changed. Get in or get out.

ALL OF THE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES LOOKING INTO QUESTIONABLE ( to put it generously) ACTIVITY (both current and historic) should be the pursuit.
For example, all of the questions asked about stock trade practices could best be asked by the FTC, and so on!

This, along with the various lawsuits may help top brass to fly right during the remaining time this place is in “operation.”

Spanish Version

The Wage and Hour Division is responsible for enforcing some of the nation’s most comprehensive federal labor laws. The workers who are protected by these laws often want to know: How do we do what we do?

Many investigations are initiated by complaints, which are confidential. The name of the complainant, the nature of the complaint, and whether a complaint exists may not be disclosed. An employer cannot retaliate against a worker for exercising their rights, filing a complaint or cooperating with an investigation.

In addition to complaints, we select certain types of businesses or industries for investigation. We target low-wage industries, for example, because of high rates of violations or egregious violations, the employment of vulnerable workers, or rapid changes in an industry, such as growth or decline.

Here’s a breakdown of our typical investigation processes, regardless of whether the investigation starts from a complaint or an agency-initiated investigation:

Investigation Process

Initial Conference
Initial Conference
Our investigator holds an initial conference with the employer and/or the employer’s representative and tours the employer’s establishment.

Conducting Interview
Conducting Interviews
Our investigator interviews employees in private.

Reviewing Records
Reviewing Records
The WHD investigator reviews the employer’s records to determine compliance.

Final Conference
Final Conference
We hold a final conference with the employer and/or the employer’s representative to discuss any violations found and how to correct them. If back wages are owed to employees, the investigator will request payment of back wages.

If you have questions or concerns, you can call us at 1-866-487-9243 or visit dol.gov/agencies/whd. You will be directed to the nearest WHD office for assistance. There are WHD offices throughout the country with trained professionals to help you.

Yes, I see work not getting done left and right. There just aren't enough people to do the usual workload that all of our processes are based on. Everything needs to be overhauled and simplified. It's starting to impact partners too, ba--s are getting dropped all over the place.
