Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Productive

They could have had us all working hard trying to find a way for AT&T to succeed. Instead, they thought let’s spend 2-3 years having everyone thinking about badging in, waves, relocating, etc. They don’t know how to solve the big problems so leadership is focusing on controlling employees but is not going to help.

“ Very productive working on my house, taking kids to soccer practice, Costco runs. Yeah baby, WFH.”

#truth

Hate to say it but as a former remote employee, now working a new job, I see why AT&T leadership wants to cull the herd. I barely worked while remote. I talked to other remote AT&T employees that say they like working at AT&T due to the “flexibility” which I know means working half of what you’re expected.

You may think you are working productively but until you get another job, you won’t know.

That said. Good luck to all. I still don’t give a $h17 about Stankey but AT&T employees ARE getting overpaid to do nothing.

"Yeah, I used to leave to pickup children at school mid afternoon. Now I have to rely on other parents ..."

That's on your immediate boss who apparently doesn't allow flexibility. Find another role inside the company that works better for your situation.

So you are just wanting to start creating on ideas for innovation and improvement now that you are being held accountable to work in a designated office? GTCOH!

"I'm amazed how much of what I overhear in the office is people complaining about the RTO policy. (I don't join in, I just put on my headphones and collaborate with people who are in other places.)"

Then why are you wasting our time posting this useless comment here?

Imagine how productive you could be if you worked and didn’t spend your day on this site.

“Go to work as you are told or be an adult and move on to what fits you.”

What are you? Cabin boy for the C suite?

"Go to work as you are told or be an adult and move on to what fits you. Whining about not being able to WFH while you watch Netflix is childish. Your job has obligations that are not open for negotiation. Make a choice and live with it. Crying the next ten years while you drive to work shows your level of immaturity. Corporations need to weed out the immaturity. If you insist on working “your way”, then start your own business."

Found the bootlicker. You know your boss can't give you brownie points when you're posting anonymously right?

There is nothing about AT&T policies and procedures (not what is written or talked about, but what really goes on) that is about productivity. RTO is just the latest. Its all about who you know and who's butt you lick.

As for RTO and "collaboration", we are forced into the office, but still have to work with people in other hubs, along with India and Israel. So much for "face to face". And yet, they are completely oblivious to the hypocrisy of that.

Stankey has so much disdain for employees. It oozes out of him. He is certain we are taking advantage somehow. Makes one wonder about his own work ethic. He is more suited to be an individual contributor, not a leader.

AMEN. AT&T could have leveraged its decades of experience with remote workers to create and showcase business products that would have far exceeded ARPU on individual phones or SIMs in cars, but nope. Couldn't see the potential, went along with the herd, and now we have a CEO with a media mogul salary but a company that's just d-mb pipes and tubes (to quote Ed Whitacre).

The rationale for RTO is insulting. Was I not productive and getting awards from my home office, bought and maintained by me? Do they really think a dashboard showing badge swipes is anything but demoralizing? Yeah, I used to leave to pickup children at school mid afternoon. Now I have to rely on other parents. I spend every second of that time polishing my online sudoku skills, right here at my "desk", I'll be darned if I spend it on work. Bad attitude? You betcha.
