Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Soft Layoffs Happening Now?

Former Ford here. In my network on LinkedIn in the last couple days I’ve seen a few contract folks suddenly open to work, and now a Ford Lifer at the director level just announced her far-too-young “retirement”.

Anyone on the inside have some intel?

@4vce that begs another question.... if the EV mandates go bye-bye, do we go back to focusing on ICE cars? and how will that happen? You dont just pull off the dust covers and start that overnight. A lot of the ICE engineers are gone and it would take time to start up an assembly line and supply chain.

Maybe we should bring in some more consultants. We dont have enough or those.

The Biden EV mandate is going to go buh-bye.
Is Ford going to need EV teams?

@3geh+1vlCJvgA ford requires us to follow processes, but when the bosses think the processes are inconvenient, they just do whatever they want. hence, all the quality and warranty problems.

@2nob+1vlCJvgA- Really? So the process established 2 years go is no longer valid?

The new process is a total BS! The evaluation should go both ways from up to down and down up. If a bunch of losers keep blaming the lower ranks for what they do then the ship is going to sink for sure.

Former metrologist here reporting in... Several friends contracted through Rousch Engineering have been laid off... Too bad, they always layoff the most brilliant engineers...

What kind of severance was given out for recent soft layoffs?

You will see many folks retiring starting Jan-1. The lump sum for 2025 has gotten better.

Who were the Chief Engineers in Interiors and Infotainment that were laid off along with the Director from UnSE?

Angela Henderson was an LL4 director in Supply Chain. An LL3 Global Director in SC, also left (in May) after almost 27 years, as have multiple other LL4’s with varying tenure in the last year. All left on their own (no soft lay-off) and many didn’t have other jobs they left for. You can do the math on the toxicity level in the group and when new senior leadership in that group came on board.

This is the new Ford way. Fly these under the radar. Small monthly layoffs!

These under-the-radar staff reductions were politically motivated.
The economy really is in bad shape. We are in for some rough waters. They didn't want us to see it.

The BOSK TN plant manager quits. He saw the writing on the wall.

Ford would never do something like a soft layoff. They are always completely above board with everything that they do. There is never any underhanded dealings when it comes to Ford.

No one knows anymore. The layoffs are smaller but much more frequent. Morale has been in the toilet for years now. Best to assume something bad is happening because it’s been one big downward trend since Farley took over.

Elections are over.

No need to keep up the facade.

Staff reductions highly likely.
