Something Needs to Change

We're seeing a growing number of employees leave, and it's not hard to understand why. Compensation is not competitive, and raises or promotions are often withheld even when clearly deserved. Many of us are experiencing burnout and ongoing stress. The culture at Advance isn’t what it once was. While there’s an effort to make it seem like progress is being made, particularly by HR (Kristen Soler specifically), there’s still a noticeable gap between what’s promised and what’s delivered. She’s skips over the questions everyone is asking and pivots to the unnecessary details no one cares for. If the company truly wants to address high turnover, meaningful changes in leadership may be necessary. A lot of us have stayed because we value our teams and the relationships we've built here. But even that’s starting to feel like less of a reason to stay, especially as more colleagues leave and leadership continues to shift.

I have been part of the business for nearly two decades, and it’s clear that the IT department is in need of a significant overhaul. The current approach of allowing offshore teams to make critical decisions is creating disconnects with our actual business needs.

Recently, a data engineer who had been associated with AAP for 11 years on contract was let go with very short notice. Before his departure, he was required to train other team members for several months — far beyond a standard knowledge transfer. This decision not only undermines morale but also poses a serious risk to business continuity.

From a humanitarian perspective, the timing of this decision is concerning, as finding new employment during November and December is extremely challenging. When employees feel insecure about their positions, their performance and commitment inevitably suffer.

Having an offshore IT is always good to be able to follow the sun. But never let them take control. Once you allow that you will be sc--wed.

I will soon be leaving this place. The culture has grown increasingly negative, with designated micromanagers at AIIC making life harder for people who simply want to do great work. Recently, we lost an excellent teammate onsite , and the message that sends is crystal clear.
I believe in environments where people are trusted, empowered, and supported—not stifled. It’s time to seek opportunities where collaboration and respect are the foundation, not control and fear.

@1d1 as long asl the offshore led micromanagement continues, you will see good people leaving. As someone stated in the comments they dont care. But I hope someone understands this and brings the control of the engineering in the US.

Last week, one of my colleagues resigned. He has always been a true asset to both the company and the team. Unfortunately, despite his contributions, he was denied well-deserved promotions on multiple occasions. Instead, others above him took the credit and advanced, particularly just before a leadership transition. He continued to stay, hoping for positive change, but the pattern persisted—expectations kept rising while recognition never came. Over time, the environment became increasingly toxic.
