Full-time employees let go today

I'm wondering if other stores eliminated full-time jobs? We lost several people today, and I have the feeling it's not over yet. Is this typical before a store announces it's closing? Not sure how the store can stay open with part-time help only when almost no one accepts a job offer for minimum wage.

@3exf+19uK7gL9 Dude, stop selling videos already! This is not the place to Monetize your channel.

"I'm not here to spam threads." Um, yes, you literally are!

"The folks that do not enjoy them, I apologize on my behalf." Who else's behalf would you apologize on?

"Also, I want to create a unique perspective in this community by giving informative information by linking maps & videos with informative information" Um, what? Try again, in English? You like the word information, because you used some form of it about 4 Times in that run-on sentence.

"Finally, I want people on this site to see the map of where the non-liquidating locations are so that people that live nearby one of these locations can have one last chance to visit them."

Day late & A Dollar short, buster. Those list-dudes had the maps up, ages ago.

Again, this is not the place to advertise for and drive traffic to your personal channel about elevators, man. There are other avenues for that, if this is your goal.

Good Morning All,

This is the office of Human Capital and Associate Relations at Transformco. Today, are our promoting our full-time associates to "customer" and transitioning their duties to part-time associates. We are doing this for several reasons.

1) Studies have shown that employees prefer part-time work over full-time work due to the flexibility it offers them. Part-time status allows associates to enjoy time outside of work and more fulfilling lives outside of working hours.

2) Full-time associates' wages are expensive and a drain our store's profitability. By sacrificing our full-time associates' jobs, we can spread those wages into things like additional merchandise assortment, capital improvements to our stores, and technology innovations. We can also reduce the number of associates on the company benefit plans, and also transition those funds into additional pizza parties at the store level.

3) Many of our full-timers are at, or approaching, retirement age. We like to think of ourselves as just adding them in their transition to retirement. By lowering their income now, they can make more on Social Security or other welfare plans.

If you have any questions about the above, please call ASO for more information.

During the loss prevention staffing conference call yesterday, it was mentioned that all the planned full time layoffs have already occurred. So I don't think anymore will be announced in the near future.

Stores barely have any Full Time employees. Kmart I worked in around 2010 had a few managers, then mostly a bunch of $8 per Hour cart pushers who were usually stoned out of their mind anyway, who honestly couldn't care less if they lost their jobs because the were just their to finance their weed. Other than that they were some Drunk college kids who worked Weekends (while mostly playing with their phones), but nobody who really cared or wanted to be there anyway. They could have closed the whole store, and 95% of the stoned slackers wouldn't have given a sh–, or even noticed the difference.

Well Sears just canned my husband today - after making them hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars at one of the subsidiaries. So FU Sears and ALL THE FOLKS WHO WORKED WITH HIM AND KNEW.

The upper management is plotting with lower workers to 'quietly' take over positions and get promised the other guys position.

Seras and ALL of it's c-appy other smaller companies can go screw themselves.

In the middle of a f*cking PANDEMIC and people are plotting to get rid of OLDER workers!

DO NOT TAKE THE PAY OUT Write instead - You can make a lot more money selling your story to mags and papers and to OTHER STOREs than you will get from Sears.

TRUST NO ONE AT ANY OF THE SEARS COMPANIES - unless you have an "in" with the CEO. IYKWIM

Thank you for your reply. My guess is that we're closing very soon. We were short-staffed even with these people so I'm curious how we're supposed to run a large store with a handful of part time staff. The manager told me we only need 2 or 3 staff to run the store each day now. It's a pretty big store.

@OP+19uK7gL9 Yes, actually it is. Where is your store located? Typically when they are letting go of employees they are getting ready to post temporary jobs with the liquidator who is SB360 Capital Partners, LLC works with TransformCo, LLC to offer temporary jobs for people to apply to on job.sears.com or on indeed.com. My guess is that since that the store just let go of some full-timers at the store, your store closing will most likely be announced next week. It seems that every two weeks, it's another small round of stores posting temporary jobs and hiring people that have not worked there for the many years and decades to help out with the liquidation sales. Again I could be totally wrong.
