Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

My last day today

I resigned after over 20 years. Hard decision to make. The not knowing was really getting to me. I am too young to retire and it is hard to tell how long the Quincy office will be open. I start a new job on Monday.

They let me walk out the door very easily even though my numbers were well above average.

I am working at a job that is compatible with my family. You really can not put a price tag on happiness and moving forward.

Best of luck to all. The decision I made was well thought out. I can not second guess myself at this point.

You might have just walked away from a huge severance package. The old timers I know that were laid off got a year's salary plus bonuses.

Kansas City and Rockland ME aren’t on the website as locations either. They can’t get rid of everyone lol

I mean hello, when Quincy Massachusetts and Albany N.Y. are not listed as locations on the SS & C website its pretty obvious people. But one can hope and hope and....... ummm nope! Comical!

Were you hearing rumors that Quincy would close or relocate?

I was not asked to leave. I asked for a schedule change and could not get that. I gave my 2 weeks notice and finished up at SS&C this past Friday.

Dst was toxic as you described. People not treated as the companies most valuable resource. People blamed for a computer softwares errors and shortcomings. It came from the top. Top management knew employees were overworked and underpaid. From T. McDonnell on down the slave labor was dictated

Good for you to have a plan, put into action and act upon it unlike so many who just talk about it. I also left Quincy after 20+ years found a position closer to home and the day I drove away I immediately felt a weight off my shoulders. Curious as to your experience, once you resigned were you asked to leave?

My children are 12. Very hard to find a balance but life is short. Working at BFDS for 20+ years allowed me to take a job closer to home with less pay to be there for my family. I did not like the direction my career was heading towards.

Congratulations that you put you first! Good luck in your new position and don't look back. I, like you embarked on a new career with a company that tells me everyday that they are lucky to have me. Yes those companies do exist. I am grateful every day that I was smart enough to get my ducks in a row and network so that when the layoiff happened I was well prepared. Nobody let's repeat Nobody should have to work in the toxic environment that was created by DST managenent and continues now under the new SS &C regime.
