Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Why can't GE employees work from home like big companies like P&G Google Microsoft

I can't believe the HR lead sent out an email today trying to s— up to the new GE leadership traits but not touch anything about Corona virus. Can't believe GE does not care about it's employees at all...Why can't people work from home and a decision be made company wide...I guess they are waiting for the first GE employee to die in order to make this decision...This is how the employees are treated...there is not a single remedy completed in the office...no signs no hand sanitizers no uv lights...if you guys want everybody to stay at office you have to do something GE...

I am doing a work slowdown and if they don't like, lay me off.
Maybe severance is more profitable than quitting ??

GE just another greedy piece of c-ap company. No merit raises when families need it most. I am doing a work slowdown and if they don't like lay me off.

Use water to clean. Besides, what is the guarantee that toilet tissue paper will be available at work?

No merit raises! I will just sit at home and watch daytime TV.

There isn't any toilet paper at my house. I couldn't find any over the weekend. I hope they don't make me work from home. Plus the kids make too much noise and I can't get any work done because the schools are closed.

Many employees work from home now and before this crisis. Depends what kind of work one does.

Appears the mindset is anything to help reduce the Pension liability. The fewer who make it to retirement then the lower the risk of actually having to payout on the Pension liabilities.

With all of the Schools, Restaurants and Bars closing in Ohio, it will not be too long before the decision is not a company one as the government is going to be making the decisions.

In Kentucky, Sheriff’s deputies are stationed outside someone’s house who has tested positive to keep him from leaving his house.

In New York, the National Guard is on patrol around an entire city.

You think people are waiting for someone to 'expire' before making a decision? This is the company that gave its workers asbestos to, as you said...just spread around the house.

Why does everybody wants to go to work so much and not able to work from home...if you want to work from work go and work and risk the life of yourself or your loved ones...if a person wants to work they can work from everywhere in the world...is there internet is there a laptop yes...so whats the issue...being physically in the office especially in a quarantine red alert situation is just being stupid...yeah go to work guys...spread the virus more...i am sure that's going to help GE and its customers more....also make sure you bring it to your home as well...so you can keep on spreading. Also why is everybody commenting on blaming etc...nobody is saying anything bad about the ceo or the businesses; people just need to be sensible these days

You never show up to work and now you finally have an excuse not to show up.
A new generation of entitled folks that can't do anything other than point fingers.
In case you haven't noticed the new CEO is actually a real CEO. Sooner or later his rightsizing of businesses will get you out the door. Then you can really cry as a non-employee because Walmart doesn't have greeters anymore.

It does not apply to the disposable employees plus it will lighten the next layoff costs

GE pays so many people to do nothing many forgot they are actually supposed to produce something that sells.

I don't know what division of GE you are, but if you are a manufacturing company this requires most of you to be present to make the products for your customers.
