‘Nuff said. A bloated middle makes an organization slow during tough times. Cut out excess middle managers who don’t effect the bottom line. Fire underperforming management. Lean and mean is how operators need to be approaching these times of low oil price.

That just makes too much sense.
Hey, they do affect the bottom line!!! Just not in a positive or productive way. LMAO.
Most are too young for their positions and lack of the guts and common sense that comes with seasoned experience. Worse is JB hired his pals from RBL to reorganize this thing years ago. That added more power and cronies under him. They created small teams so the millennials could feel as if they were bosses. In reality the power at Oxy comes from the top, where decisions are made. Leads and managers are only there to approve training, monitor your vacation ours and compile reports. But there is no shortage of screw ups at their level! Lean and mean is how the old timers built the old Oxy
I am a middle manager and I approve this message! I really think I should get laid off. The issue is that then they should pay me 14 months severance package and they cannot afford it. So what do they do, they keep letting more junior people go... because they are cheaper. It is a s–c-de spiral!
@hda+14Q7k6ZL Great way to sum this up! I can nominate atleast 10 right now.
And directors with no direct reports...
Yes, but Oxy is the exact opposite of lean and mean. There is so much bloat here. Instead of removing 1-2 layers of paper pushers, we increase the percentage of middle managers through layoffs, contractor cuts, and attrition. Those middle managers have no authority or accountability, and spend all of their time with micromanagement and political posturing, because they don't know how to provide any real value. I could definitely nominate my Director and VP to be cut, as they provide absolutely no value, and are in fact a cancer for our teams, work, and future.
